Winter may bring a white sugary coating on the red sandstone of Sedona maybe once or twice a winter. The last week of February had one such occurrence. I had not photographed the snow there in a few years, so with the storm coming, I made my way down the hill from Flagstaff to Sedona so as not to get blocked by closed highways. The snowstorm broke around sunset and the vortex hill by the airport provided a great vantage to catch the light in many directions. Dawn of the next morning brought soft light and mostly clear skies as just a few clouds formed over the peaks. Cold but beautiful.

The complete album of these snowy Sedona images may be seen larger and with higher resolution on my photo website.

Great pictures of a place I have never been and maybe wont make it. But you are doing a good job reminding me what your country looks like.
Thanks for posting them,

Ken

Ken, it has been almost 30 years since I have been to Montana, but the memories are good from those summer hiking and fishing trips.

Lots of character to that country. Thanks for posting.

Love the contrast in the snow on the rocks. Seven or so years ago we were at the GC in March. As we drove up from flag, a snow storm was just ending. Got there in time to get sun setting pictures as well as sunrise pics the next morning with light from the opposite direction.

Cool stuff.
