Here's the 1st photo (taken a few days ago) of 2023, taken with my Nikon D3500 and 70-300mm lens. My dog chased the squirrel (aka "tree rat") up onto the big pine tree branch in the backyard. I zoomed out to 300mm and snapped a very nervous squirrel. f/6.3 and 1/500 shutter.

One more , while I am at this. This Blue Jay, a fairly new bird to our town gets caught flying after many tries. I am using my Nikon D 7200 with a Tamron 150mm-600mm g2 lens.

Flagstaff currently has its second snowiest winter on record and the latest storm brought 30" to the house. I made my way down to Sedona before the storm and before the highways were closed. Ten inches of white goodness fell upon the red rocks. This trip was also the maiden voyage for a new Fuji GFX 100s and 45-100mm lens. I made the decision to go medium format with 102MP so printing large metal prints 60-90" would be less of a task.

The best thing about photographing Kookaburras is they are a fearless bird that allow you to get very close, especially if they know they're going to get some fresh mince meat.

Male & female Grey Butcherbird. They're an easy bird to photograph once they become familiar with you, although in this case, the female is a lot less timid than the male.

I managed to get another good pic of a female Grey Butcherbird earlier today.

It's a wild hybrid, mostly Pale Headed Rosella with a splash of Eastern Rosella.

Scaly breasted lorikeet. I had a pair of these small parrots in the backyard today. They're not uncommon although I dont see too many at home probably because the more aggressive & larger Rainbow Lorikeets chased them away at every opportunity.




The Little Corella. A very common bird but tough & aggressive toward other parrots, especially when food is involved.



The Galah is another common parrot aound my place.
