Great pictures! I really like the boat and bird, the touch of wake and glass smooth water are so peaceful. I`ve got a thing about water anyway. These aren`t the greatest pictures but I haven`t tried shots sunsets or rises much.

The one I took of the bird, boat and lake is one of my personal favorites. In your second picture, the sun looks sooooo far away!

We were treated to this firestorm in the sky one evening on a Coues hunt in southern AZ.

Took this one on a morning on the way for a goose/duck shoot.

That was a great sight from camp the eve before the hunt. (All I did to the pic was to crop, no other adjustments.)

I like them all; 5sdad, I've fished that lake. First two years out of college I was a science teacher at Ayshire, IA.

Brad - I've not shot a bull in an easy place; like, the bottom of that canyon. It's a beautiful pic but I almost feel sore looking at it .

458 Lott - nothing quite like a clear sky sundown over the north country - very nice.

Another "clear-sky sundown in the northland"...at low tide

Late last night coming home from the arena, I was wishing I had a camera with me, and kicking myself for not having one. The sunset was absolutely stunning as the sun shone through the gap between the mountains and the cloud edge. The interplay of colors, texture, silhouette, and cloud was enough to make a soon-to-be 13 yo boy ooohh and aaahh.

Old camera, old hands, 20 degrees out with about a 30mph wind blowing. The Hopkins Ridge Windmill project near Dayton, WA.

Oh, my!!! That's gorgeous!!

Here are a couple recent ones from my backyard. I'm no meteorologist & don't know what kind of cloud that is in the top one. Just call it the USS Enterprise.

Looks like the Michelin Man is getting dizzy in that cloud.

A short drive was made up Hart Prairie Road to the west of the San Francisco Peaks to catch the sunset. However, the cloud layers did not allow the evening light to bathe the peaks before the foreground was in shadows. Another night perhaps.


To the west was the better view of the translucent storm clouds and some showers towards Kendrick Peak.

It was the last mearns hunt of the season, so took advantage of a nice sunset Saturday evening. I went to a spot that had a tree and water hole to catch a reflection, but alas the hole contained no water, so "settled" for the silhouette of the tree.


Afterwards, I drove to a point to camp for the evening. THe late evening sky still contained some nice color well after the sun settled below the horizon.




And so the sun cast its blessing on another trip to southern Arizona.

Wow....some very nice pictures in this thread! I took a road trip down to CA last summer and got a few decent shots. Of course these compressed versions are far less spectacular than the full res versions.

Bump to the top since with the hunt season in progress, there should be some nice sunsets seen.

OK, here's one from a scouting trip in Arizona's unit 23.

Sunsets are just pictures unless you are out there doing what you love to do...

I noticed this old log home on Garland Prairie west of Flagstaff this past summer and thought it would be nice to shoot after a snow at sunset. I went there tonight. As dusk progressed, the sky turned peach before the blue of the earth shadow appeared.

Just Peachy
