Here are a couple pictures that I took while moose hunting in northern Alberta. You can see the big dipper (Ursa Major) in one of them. Nikon D5000, 18-55mm lens, 15 second shutter speed.

Beautiful, I'll think it sent chills up the spine seeing that.

How do you like the D5000? It seems to be working well for you.

Sam, that would be a nice sight to have in hunting camp. I like the trees outlined against the green glow in #1 and the curvature in #2.
Incredible!

That is one of those things that's on my bucket list.

Beautiful shot of Gods creation.

Thanks for sharing

Thanks guys. The D5000 is my first DSLR (thanks to Air Miles, haha). I used to shoot a lot of film with a couple old Olympus SLR's but as I got busy with kids and work I didn't seem to find the time to invest in photography much anymore.

I have thought about moving up to a better DSLR body, but I think I would rather spend the money on better lenses. This one seems to do a good job for what I ask of it. I sitll have a lot to learn about composition and technique. A bigger/faster/more featured camera might compensate for that shortfall, preventing me from learning how I should.
