Hello,

Thought I would start with a question here. I currently have a Rebel T3i. Mostly I shoot outdoor shots and track and field events. Occasionally do some indoor family photos as well but mostly the outdoor stuff. I was wondering if there was a better set up to use for getting the sports photos, as far as speed/multiple frames. I usually use the automatic sports setting on the T3i. I am not a real "serious" photographer but my daughter runs track and I take photos of her and the other team members to give to other parents when possible. Thoughts?

Thanks.

What problems are you having with your current setup? What more do you wish to do?
Not really any significant problems but I do find that with action photos, say for a 100 meter hurdle event, I will sometimes get a number of out of focus shots. Certainly some of that fault may be mine but I was wondering if some of the newer cameras have better focus systems and/or take more photos if the shutter is held down. We do make prints/enlargments of some of the sports shots, so more pixels is always good.
I have a Canon 7D and a variety of lenses if you're interested......
Are you shooting in continuous mode?

I was able to get a decent series of shots of springboard diving with my Rebel, but distance-to-subject does not change as much as hurdles.
I do some single shots and will sometimes just hold down for continuous exposures. What I have seen is that I get quite a few exposures that have a different focal point than my subject. Maybe that is just all me but I thought that maybe some of the newer cameras had more advanced auto-focus systems. Maybe I just need to be better.
Shirley there are systems w faster focus and process time. It's just money after all.

Look at specs on Canon's site and google reviews for models that interest you is my best advice.
I do get some great photos with the T3i, but some stinkers too. Although, that may be true with any camera and action shots
That's my experience. 10% keepers and I'm deelighted!
