Havent owned a camera in about 8 years. Last one I bought was 6-800.00 and was stolen with the rest of my electronics about a week later. Never even got to try it out. Now I have a trip planned the first of November for Elk and Trout in Colorado and I'm thinking I might pick up a used camera. Seems like I can get a 20mp and 35 optical zoom for 50-100.00... Anything else I need to take into consideration.

Also looking at a used waterproof point and shoot for wading. Anybody used the Olympus tough or Sony TX-30?

Seems Cameras are still advancing quick enough you can buy "obsolete" models just a few years old.
An Olympus Tough can probably handle most , if not all of your needs! Especially the fishing pics!
Look for reviews with test photos. Don't choose by the numbers alone. Find out what the actual useful zoom range is and remember that compact travel zooms have small sensors so the cameras with the highest mps numbers may not give you the best images. Don't forget to check the low light level test shots.
