Looking for recommendations for a range finder that will reliably range deer/elk size critters out to 1000 yards. I’ve got a Nikon currently, that will only reliably range to 600, sometimes 700 yards. I’m looking for something small enough to tuck in a rangefinder pouch attached to my bino harness. Price is a consideration, but at the same time, I realize that you get what you pay for in most cases. What do you guys recommend?

Leica!!

Had the Rangemaster 2000 in Montana a couple of years ago and my guide was playing with mine and getting ranges on single Mulies at nearly 1200 across the canyon. We were also getting readings on trees and canyon walls just over 2000. Also with it being light and clear with 7x magnification I find that I use it to scan the sage 1 handed quite a bit, then when something catches my eye I switch to the bino's. After the hunt, my guide chose the Leica over a cash tip. So now I have the Rangemaster 2400.

With those needs I’d look hard at Leica, probably the 2400

I have an older Leica Scan 1200 and a Sig Kilo 2000. The Sig's ability is beyond anything the Leica could do. This comparison is based on field time in prairie dog fields and ranging out to 700 yards. The Leica would not provide range estimation in those conditions.

My recommendation would be on the Sig products today over Leica. That's my $.02.

I have both the sig kilo 2400 and the Vortex Fury HD 5000 10x42 Laser Rangefinder Binocular. Both work great!

Leica, I have two..never an issue with either. I started with one, an 800, now have a 1200.

The Vortex Fury HD 5000 can be had for just a bit over $1000.

The rangefinder is great and the glass is very good.

Just got a Leica 2800.com from Doug at Camera Land and it’s terrific.

I have used Leica, Swaro, and SIG.

I prefer the SIG over those.
