Had a rifle built buy some great local guys from Deep South Tactical. Remington LA 700, Greyboe Stock Bartlein barrel, PTG Mdl 70 style bolt shroud and safety. M-16 extractor. Shoots like a laser. got some 4-5" groups at 600yds today with the wind gusting up around 15. Had to be picky about timing the shots but the rifle performed flawlessly. If you're in central Ms I highly recommend them.

Nice rifle and good shooting. What bullet?
awesome cartridge.had a factory 7 mag of my grandfathers when it quit shooting 20 years ago sent to a prominent riflesmith in virginia.rechambered it to 280ai.had the action benchrest trued surface groung lug trigger worked over to 2 lbs.clay spencer did the work.made his own barrels which we used one.pillar glass bedded.mcmillan sporter stock.anyway my dad started using it.i knew he would love it.i handload.the gun was capable of .2 and sometimes better.shot 120 and 140 grainers.it is one of the best cartridges ever designed.for slight recoil and effectiveness on most n/a game it is stellar.anyone getting older wants a lightweight rig for hunting would love it.great luck with yours. l
Can you drive a 160 grain bullet to 3000 fps with that thing?

and with outstanding accuracy as I recall.
I am running my Alpine light at near 3000, (according to loading data), using H-1000 and the 160 AB. Two one shot elk kills this fall, one at 266, the other at 410. A lovely light rifle that shoots consistently under 1 inch.

Sorry just saw this had gotten new responses. I shoot a 155 Terminal Ascent at 3020 out of an 8 twist Bartlein barrel. Seems to do the trick.
