I have been out of the hunting game for awhile due to a life changing situation (Divorce, Employment loss, moved to a new state, found new career), and so haven't been hunting in wide open spaces for about 7 years. At one point in time, I had the app "Shooter" on my Android phone, and used it well enough while hunting out West.
Question is, what Ballistic App's for carryng on a phone are available these days, and what are your reccommendations?
Thanks!
Frog
Shooter is still available. I run the applied ballistics app on my phone now.
Geoballistic is another to check out. The mapping/ranging feature could be useful.
I use Ballistic AE. Works well.

It really is hard to beat the Hornady 4 dof app if you're running their bullets.
Thank you al for the feedback, I appreciate it!
Happy Independence Day!!!!

I run Hornady 4DOF with Hornady and Berger bullets. I also use the 4DOF Kestrel. Results for bullets from both manufacturers typically require some tweaking with the Axial Form Factor function.
+1 on Strelok Pro or + versions. Igor good on support too.
Another vote for Strelok Pro. Having the reticles built in is awesome.
I use Streloc Pro as well
I’ve some time with most of the ballistic phone apps, and Ballistic:AE remains my favourite, but Shooter is still one of the best.
Which app is the easiest to use for putting in a zero and then correcting to 5-600 yards?
Dope chart taped to the rifle or stock
Ballistic AE for me.
It's retired all (3) of my chrnographs, for at least the last dozen or better new rifles. Hint.
Once DOPE is confirmed ala AE,it goes to ocular caps and stocks, for future reference. On a new spout,I can typically go from a zero of interest to me and correlate same to the Transonic Slip,in less than (5) rounds. Hint.................
Thanks for the info......appreciate the replies!
Have used Shooter for 12+ years and know it intimately. Love it! With that said, received my new Kestrel 5700 Elite the other day and am on the fast track to getting it up and running as well as pairing it, via bluetooth, to my new pair of Leica Geovid 3200.com's which will then give me range, dope in MOA or MIL as well as low and high wind calls/adjustments.

Yep, based off Zeiss app, based off optics on mountain rifle. Been really good to me.
Shooter needs to update there bullet library.
I use the ballistic calculator to build my charts have for a long long time.
For many years that's exactly what I've done. I used the "Shooter" App to build my chart, then laminated it, and taped it to the stock of my Remington .300 Win Mag for my drops.
Haven't doen any long range shooting in at least 6 years, so was just wondering if there's anything better at this time.
I just received a new rifle built on a Atlas Tactical action chambered in 6.5 PRC.......installed a Nightforce NX8 4-32x50 I had here at the house already waiting for it. As I'm using Hornady pills, I downloaded the Hornady app to try out....
Thanks for all the suggestions!

I have both Shooter and Strelok (both upgraded to paid options) and find the strelok pro superior. Reticles is a very nice touch if you use any.
How come the 4DOF he gave me seven Moa higher dial-up than just a traditional bullet calculator. With the same parameters
Only used Shooter, still do.
When you use the 4DOF and the regular Hornady blister calculator your elevation dial up is so much different.anyone notice this. The regular bc calc. Worked the best for me
I've been using ballistic AE FTE for at least a dozen years. I haven't really tried any of the other apps since then. I may have to take a look at some of the others just for fun. I haven't shot as much long range the last 3 years or so but I need to get out and confirm some new loads and rifles.

Have you tried Applied Ballistics?

Yup. It's pretty good.

I've used "shooter" for years.; no problems except they basically quit updating their data base. Recently bought Strelok pro. I can't figure it out for crap. Not much to like about it
I use the shooter ap. Like Dennis said it could use updating. But mostly I use tried and true bullets. Otherwise I match a bullet that’s close.
Bullet Drop works well and is free.
