Obviously, not a purely long range one here, but a well-used and proven one for me. Rem LA 700 .340 "B"; 24" Shilen Prem barrel, .67" at the speaker end. Leup QR R&Bs with 8x40s (finally shot a base loose) and the spec is a Leup 2.5-8x; 3-pos safety; Brown Prec, Classic stock on its 3rd paint job.
Has put the smack-down on three bull elk and a caribou just a couple steps this way of 500 yds. and more than a few further in. Eight and a half lbs on the mountain which is a little more than I like any more but it's my nostalgic favorite and has not let me down.
Nothing mystical about material-powder, brass, and lead-but after awhile you can learn to love a cartridge,..and a rifle.
