308 Win. Basic 700VS cut/braked. Barrel 20.5", 22" with brake. Shooting moly'd 155 Scenar at 2900 fps. It's in an A5, with a 16X Super Sniper on a 20 moa Badger base. Weight is 14 lbs.

30-06 with Douglas #7 bbl. 22.5" bbl, 24" with brake. Shooting moly'd 208 AMax at 2720 fps. A2 stock, 16X Leupold on a 45 moa Badger base. 105 moa useable with 100 yard zero. Have had it to about 1800 yards in dry conditions where dust signature is visible at bullet impact. Weight 16 lbs.

one of my .264 Win rifles. Sendero barreled action in an A1-3 with Badger M5 bottom metal. this barrel won't last much longer and i'll be sorry to see it go. it is the best factory barrel i've ever shot, accurate and slow to foul. upside is, i have a Lilja 3 groove #7 contour 1:8" twist barrel on the shelf for this, and the stock was inlet for the Lilja contour.

[Linked Image]

and here's another .264 Win i shot the barrel out of. M700 with Krieger HV barrel in an AICS wearing a USO Canadian. all in all, too heavy and the action is now getting reborn in a McM Classic with a Brux standard Remington sporter contour .264 barrel.

Here's my "training wheels" rig--223 Rem factory varmint action in a McMillan A3. Scope is a Weaver K15; all in all a budget conscious set up but it's cutting .75MOA at 100 yards with a load of 24.5gr Ramshot TAC and a 60gr Hornaday VMAX. That should improve as I get better at working with the gun off a bipod, the groups are dispersed horizontally which I think is a result of an inconsistent hold on my part. I built this gun to "test the waters" so to speak before I invest in a full on long range set up.

For your new rig try checking the McMillan specials page frequently as you can pick up an A-series stock with no wait and for pretty good prices, I ordered this one for $475 last Monday and it got to my house on Friday.

Just a Sendero, stock except a Jewell trigger. Zeiss 6.5-20. It has a level mounted on it now. 300 WM, mostly shoot 200-gn AB's out to 900 yds though I plan on trying some other stuff like the 208 AMAX soon.

Trying like heck to wear out this tube! smile It shoots well but has other "issues".

Hi Shane,

Would you share your thoughts on the Super Sniper line of scopes?

I almost pulled the trigger on one in 10x. I went with the Bushnell 3200 10x insted.

GB,

The SS is hard to beat for a budget LR scope. This is my first one, and I bought it used for $225. Functionally it does everything needed. Decent turrets, parallax adjustable, mildot reticle, 100 moa elevation travel, (10X has more than that), decent glass.

I like mine and have no regrets. I have four Leupold's in the inventory too, but I don't mind using the SS at all. I might pick up a 10X version second-hand too.

Short action 700 currently sporting a 1:12 twist Kriger chambered with the '95 Palma reamer for .308 Win. McMillan A1-3 stock, Badger base and rings, 4.5-14x Leupold, Turner sling. I've been shooting the same rifle for about 15 years now and have been through several different barrels over the years. Good, basic rifle that tosses bullets pretty well.

243AI at 1000yds. It wears a Mike Rock fluted Rem Varmint contour, 1-9"tw and finished at 24"s. I'm running moly'd 105Amax's at 3250 via R-17. I really like this rifle, though the next barrel will be an unfluted Rem Varmint contour at 23"s.

700 LA, .300 win mag, 30" Hart HVY contour, B&C Medalist stock, Zeiss 6.5-20x50, shoots 190 SMK's excellent. 18 lbs.

I started this one a couple months ago. Its going to be chambered in .300 win mag with a Hart #5 contour, but it will wear a H-S stock and a Zeiss 3.5-10x50 scope and should weigh just under 10 lbs.

Not bad. Spending way more than I've been making. Hope to be back to work soon. Waiting for reamers, and spending a buddies money on the Blue/Black .243AI. He went 75% black, and 25% blue. It should go to the smith this week, and then for paint the next. Then the long wait for the swirly. No internet time must mean you been staying out of trouble?

Not a 338 Lapua. It's about a 3yr old design brought out by Lapua. The case is 47mm long. Kind of a mini 260 Rem on steroids. It uses sm rifle primers so the case will take higher pressures. You're right though; IT ROCKS!

This rifle oozes character. The worn blueing on the bolt handle and the emblem on the hat speaks consistancy to me.

I like it.

Obviously, not a purely long range one here, but a well-used and proven one for me. Rem LA 700 .340 "B"; 24" Shilen Prem barrel, .67" at the speaker end. Leup QR R&Bs with 8x40s (finally shot a base loose) and the spec is a Leup 2.5-8x; 3-pos safety; Brown Prec, Classic stock on its 3rd paint job.

Has put the smack-down on three bull elk and a caribou just a couple steps this way of 500 yds. and more than a few further in. Eight and a half lbs on the mountain which is a little more than I like any more but it's my nostalgic favorite and has not let me down.

Nothing mystical about material-powder, brass, and lead-but after awhile you can learn to love a cartridge,..and a rifle.

"Well-used and proven" are often overlooked factors in any accuracy equation.

Surgeon RSR (copy of the 700) in a BC light tactical, CDI bottom metal, .243 1x7.5 Brux Heavy palma contour finished at 26" with a brake from Nathan at straight shot gunsmithing. Bases are surgeon, rings TRS holding a Falcon 4x14 FFP. So far it has been amazing with a few groups under 3" at 600 yards. I know when Nathan built it he said he expects his rifles to go 1/2moa to 800 and it is doing it. The only load it eats is the 115 DTAC with 42gr of Ramshot Hunter for 2950fps.

Posted By: wickerbill Re: show me your LR 700s - 05/23/10
Don't currently have a proper LR rifle, but I do have some mid-range stuff that's prety accurate. Not a Rem, here is an FNH PBR in 308. It's waring a Weaver T24. If I do my part, it shoot under 1/4 MOA.
[Linked Image]
Here is my contribution to the Rem 700 action. This is a 700 SA with a Hart SS barrel finished out a 27". The caliber is 22-243 Middlested 1:9 twist. Likes 69gr Match Kings and Varget real good. This one shoots better than the FN, as long as your not having to toat it very far. If I have to walk, I take the FN.

This is from 3 days ago. I chronographed my .260 (142SMKs at 2600)then printed out a chart.

Ran a 1/2 size IPSC steel out to 600. First and only three shots were spot on for elevation, held leading edge for wind. Results were 3 center hits, rough 3 inches. Not bad for just over the hood.

I will load some more and run it out to long range next time. I was pressed for time.

The rifle is an old 700 thats been in my family since the 70s. Started as a .243, then .308. Now it wears a Lilja .260 tube,HS stock, Ken Farrell 20 MOA base and VX3 6.5x20 Leupold.

none of mine are anything really special:

Rem 700 LSS in 257roy stock except a Timney trigger with Leupy VXIII 4.5-14 with a turret.

[Linked Image]

Rem 700 .338 RUM with a oversized lug, Timney trigger, HS stock and DBM bottom metal, pillar bedded action and free floated barrel, Leica 2.5-10 up top.

[Linked Image]
The HS stock works fine. It is a simple, practical field stock. Nothing fancy, it just works.

The .260 is proving itself to be a performer. Shoots tight little groups, is less susceptible to wind deflection compared to M118LR and recoil is minimal. I think it really starts to shine once you get it out past 600.

Overall, I give it a thumbs up.
