I get to start to T&E these.....tomorrow!
I always make sure....I weighed 10 and all 10 were exactly 136grs. Very uniform.
139gr scenar on the left, new 136 on right. Slightly different ogive to my eye.
The Lapua "L" appears on the base of the new 136's.
I'll see how they shoot seated with the same base to ogive as my 130, 140 VLD's and 130gr JLK's.
What is the launching apparatus?
Pat,
What's the advertised BC on these? Also, how have Scenars in general behaved on animals compared to the VLDs?
Thanks,
John
The 139 Sce's shoot really good in my Zebra rig, be intersting to give these a go as well.
Thx 4 the heads up

I'm for thinking that Mr Yote isn't gonna be liking flight 136...

They don't have an advertised BC out yet.....I'll be able to find what it is, or close to it by shooting out to 1200 meters or so, and a few ranges in between building a range card. I should be able to come up with a G1 and a G7.
The 139's have a harder jacket than the Berger HVLD's. The dig deeper. Have to see if these 136's are different. The point appears to be a little more open.
I've also got a box of the new Lapua 120gr scenars to play with too.....grin!
Pat,
Any plans to 'point' these bullets with a Whidden? I agree with your assessment of the ogives... 136 looks to be just a bit more secant.
I can't imagine they'll do anything less than hammer! But, it sure seems like gravel stuffed down a .260 case would bughole out of that GAP... grin
My Zebra rig loves 85's and 90's, hates 100's, loves 120 and 123's and dotes on 139 and 140's.

I bet that shoots like a turd
Nice looking bullet, wish you luck with the work up.
Very interested in these. Planning to have a 6.5x47 reamer ground for these seating to max length in AICS mags. Dare I ask how you got your hands on them?
that knows a guy !
Or, being at SHOT show might have helped too...
Looking forward to the results as well! Hopefully I am only about 3 months from receiving my GAP 260.
Scenar- i have two 6.5-284's . all i have shot so far are 123 and 139. would love to try the 136. envious. ron
Cool deal. Hope to get a range report on those when you can. I bet they aren't shabby.
Looks slick.
Not only the ogive, but the BT looks a lil longer on the 136. Could just be the photo though.
Dare I ask how you got your hands on them?
He was in my gun room, admiring my rifles, and lamenting the fact that he didn't have any that would shoot as well as mine did. I felt so sorry for him, having to use that crappy glass and all, I broke down and gave him some of my extra bullets.
Seriously though, looking forward to the report!! Love to get my hands on some of those bullets, any bets on where the BC will come in?
Well I got to try out 20 shots at 500 meters on steel. They shot REALLY good! I used the same dope as the 139 scenars and they shot to the same point of impact. I expect them to shoot flatter as the distance increases.
I loaded 42.6grs H4350
Remington brass
Tula LRM primer
2.130" BTO
Down loading a picture of the plate...
I must be missing something...
'2.130" BTO' ??
Base to ojive? but measurment must be off!
The last ten shots from prone with bipod and rear bag. My spotter bet me lunch I couldn't hit his head with the last five shots.....grin!
I was getting about 6" of drift. My friend was getting 9-10" with his .308 shooting 155 scenars at 2950fps.
Next step is to air them out at 1000+.
I must be missing something...
'2.130" BTO' ??
Subtract 1" for the width of the nut.............
Can you give max BTO seated in you magazine?
Are you asking about COAL? If so, easily. 2.130" BTO = 2.800" COAL with the 136gr scenar. All of my rifles run AI mags that allow 2.900 max COAL. If I needed more I can remove the front plate in the mag to accept 3.000" max cartridge length.
Do you sort your brass or do any prep?
Good shooting.
Nice shooting, are these available anywhere as of yet?
And that Sinclair hex nut thingy is one of the more useful pieces of equipment I've bought for loading.

Thanks, Pat.
Those bullets sure look promising! I'm looking forward to seeing what they do a little farther out, especially compared to the 139 Scenar and 130 VLD/JLK...
That is some awesome shooting.
Do you sort your brass or do any prep?
Good shooting.
I didn't on that 50 pieces of Remington, except burr and chamfer. I've had fair luck with Remington shooting well in my GAP rifles...plus, I don't mind losing it as bad as Lapua.
Pat,
Very nice! What kind of velocity are you getting?

The Lapua guy told me sometime this coming spring they'll show up on the shelves.
Pat,

Don't know exactly, but I'm betting really close to 2900fps. My 139 load uses 42.5grs H4350, for 2850fps. This 136 is 42.6grs of same....3 grains less bullet weight, should be able to get 2900ish. Bolt lift was butter and the primers look clean and round.
Thx-may have to test drive them on yogi come May

That pic answered a question for me about Tula primers.

Nice shooting, I'm going to have to try the 260. I just ordered one of those hex nut as well.
Dead calm, clean air and 22*F. Kind of expected this.
Next step.....go long.
Tough shooting those rigs offhand with the bipod on it isn't it...
By the way Pat, who's blue targets?
Dober
Nice, good for you.
That's a bell ringer.
Pat,
Any idea if they have improved the BC's on the 308/155 Scenar L?

I asked the same question when I visited Lapua's booth at the SHOT Show. I was told they improved the tolerances, but the design was pretty much the same....don't know how they can make that 155 much better. It's one of the most accurate bullets I've ever shot in any .30 caliber rifle.
Pat,
I agree completely, it is truly a bullet that does it ALL! Thanks for the education!
Cant wait till us peasants can buy these..My next Creedmoor should be done about then, sweet!

Nice!
Im running the 136g Hoover VLD at 29something out of my 6.5x47.
But thats with a 28 inch Bartlien.
In the beginning I felt the 6.5x47 was like trying to put 10 pounds of poop in a 5 pound bag.
But after you get to loading it awhile.
It gains your respect pretty quickley.
I always kinda felt the 123 and 130g bullets were a bit light.
And that the 140 and 142g bullets were a bit much for the 47.
The 136 IMHO is just right.
This will just give me another option.
If I can ever get any.
dave
I wouldn't complain if they made some for .277 !
I am surprised that they don't make something in the 7mm. I to would like a .277 but am not holding my breathe for a foreign company making target bullets to start with the .277 caliber. I am surpirsed thta they overlook the 7mms though.
My spotter bet me lunch I couldn't hit his head with the last five shots.....grin!
For those that didn't buy one of these targets, this "coyote" is about the size of a big fox.
VERY NICE SHOOTING Mr. Pat!!!

That is good news, I placed an order for a 1000 155's last month and they shipped yesterday.
So, does this bullet put the Creed out of business?
Only reason I can come up with for the Creed is its ability to load a 140 in a SA. And even then it needs a longer barrel and higher pressures.
I was getting about 6" of drift. My friend was getting 9-10" with his .308 shooting 155 scenars at 2950fps.
Pat, what is your buddy running to get that kind of speed?

We all use pretty much the same load. Varget has worked really good for us with the 155's. His comp rifle has a 27" Krieger on it.
Nice shooting! That looks to be a smoker of a bullet. Makes me want a 260 even more....
I'll try to stop in next week when I am in town... Waiting for the loooong range pics and report.
very nice information guys especially for a newbie to 6.5
