From 1325 yards.

Went out last night and set up a few milk jugs full of colored water at 1325:

I'm shooting to the northwest, and it didn't take long for the setting sun to make it almost impossible to spot my shots. I managed to run several rounds through the 6x47 Lapua, executing some of the jugs, before deciding to pull the pin:

So this AM, I'm back out finishing the dirty deed.

Mass carnage:

They never suspected a thing coming from the distant lone tree:

I'm out of targets now. I threw away a bunch a while back as I was tired of side stepping around them. Now I want 'em....

Awesome lineup of toys and sweet setup.

Well done! Wish I had my own place to shoot like that.

Aalf, what bullet are you shooting in the 6X47?

Ever recover a bullet at that range to see if they are opening up at all?

Love your range aalf!

Thanks.

Wouldn't mind coming to an IB, but that's 2500 round trip, this is only 3 from home.....

I'm shooting pointed Berger 105 Hybrids at 3125. BC is coming in at around .585.

Interestingly, this barrel is a four groove Krieger with the Hybrids, my other 8 twist is a 5R Rock shooting 105 Berger VLD's, and the accuracy load for both barrels is exactly the same using H-4350.

Someone looking to do a 6 mm, this is the answer.

I haven't, but based on the damage, they are opening up some. I did find a piece of lead in one jug, but most likely came from a short shot.

Pretty cool, Al.

Through the cows, over the barn, under the wires - nothing but milk jug. grin

I may have to accompany you one of these days. Though I'm more likely to aerate that lawn 100 ft from the jugs than I am to water it like you do.
Posted By: aalf Re: Watering the Lawn..... - 04/24/14

Anytime Scott, we'll just shoo those moo cows outta the away.

Although the first shot from you should have them scurrying for cover....... grin

Did you decide if the pointy-maker-thingy is worthwhile?

Travis
Nice.

Those power lines look like they might be kind of close to the bullet path, but hard to really tell in the pics.

Definitely.

I forgot, till after the fact, that I had loaded up some that had not been pointed, so I could have done a valid side by side test.

Next time.....

It's deceiving in the pic, but the power lines are a little further up the hill from the jugs, so no worries.

In the past, I have moved the targets way up the hill, and I moved back on the neighbor's property to 1925 yards, and I shoot over the lines. smile

Nice rifles aalf! I really like the stock on the dasher, what model is it? also are you happy with the dasher? I'm thinking about a dasher or brx twisted 1 in 8 when my 1 in 12 br barrel gives up the ghost

The three in the middle are all McMillan Win Marksman patterns.

I've been shooting Dashers for over ten years, and have probably had over twenty guns and/or barrels chambered in it. I shoot 1K BR, and both guns shoot the Dasher exclusively.

You could say I'm a fan....

Sounds like you are, what are the pro's and con's of a dasher vs a BRX in your opinion
Thanks

Nothing wrong with a BRX, but most claim it's more convenient as you can use regular 6BR dies. That's fine till you have to full length size, and that BR die won't touch the web. With the Dasher popularity and everyone making dies, that doesn't hold water any more.(I never thought it did)

With the Dasher's track record and the records it holds, makes it a no brainer for me. Why people not into competition ignore it is beyond me. 105's at 3075 with 33-34 grains of powder should make people stand up and notice.

Nice hardware aalf, and good shooting. Do you have trajectories memorized, or on cards, or on the rifle??? Out to 1325 on 5 rifles is a lot of data to hold somewhere. Certainly couldn't do it in my little brain. grin

I couldn't do it either.

I have the Shooter app on my phone, plus I run a printout from JBM for each gun, laminate it front and rear with 2" clear packing tape, fold it up, and stash it in the lid of the MTM box.

Hunting guns get a minimized version taped on the side.

That's some nice rigs man. I hope to shoot that far one of these days.

99 cent Safeway 2 liter soda bottles are great targets as well. Much more "reactive" than milk bottles. smile

They're 4" in diameter and a foot tall, and you use them at 1300-1400 yards?
