Ramshot Magnum has served well but I've given up on finding it again locally or in an 8 pounder. Paying the hazmat fee to ship a one pounder does not make much sense, so I'm looking for options.

The rifle is a Savage with 25 inch magnum contour barrel, shooting 68 grains of powder, Fed 215 primers and 180 grain VLDs. For some reason this is yielding 3000 fps, which is where I want to be. I love the ball powders for their metering properties, but will switch if I must. I usually single-weigh these charges anyway.

Thanks and good shooting this fall!
Talus, I have had success with IMR7828SSC, with 162's and 175's.
Quickload recommends the following powders, max pressure and 100% or less fill.

In my 7wsm, I shoot 7828ssc with 150s &160s with excellent results.

Another vote for 7828 SSC
Magpro is my favorite powder in the Win Short Magnums
There's a pound of IMR 7828 in a local CalRanch right now. How much difference does the SSC process make in the final result?
None.....SSC meters better.

4831SC has worked well for me. 65gr, 168gr Berger VLD, MAG length
+1 for Magpro
i shoot a 7/300wsm (essentially a 7wsm with a slightly longer neck) with the 180gr bergers and use reloader 25.

Definitely, and it is a ball powder which the OP says he prefers. I tested quite a few for some comp rifles and MagPro with F210M's was my favorite after lots of testing. H4831sc is very consistent, but with lesser velocity. RL22 is good also, but was very temperature sensitive. Never tried 7828, so cannot comment on those suggestions.
I use RL-25 in my 7WSM behind the 180 vld Bergers. Barrel length is 26 inches. Works well in my rifle.
Best combo I have found is H1000, not always the fastest with 160gr-180gr bullets but has consistantly been the most accurate.
jeffbird, you don't use Federal 215s for primers?
Jeff. I have lots of magpro. It's easy to come by. Didn't we test it already? . Quite a bit slower than magnum
7828ssc with 162's and R17 with 140's has been my huckleberry...

Found the LR primers tightened things up a bit and provided better consistency. Tried several mag primers, Fed, Win, and CCI for comparison. Never had any problems with ignition with the 210's.

Dennis, the OP says he cannot find Magnum, but MagPro is available.

MagPro would easily run into the mid-2900's with the 176 Cauterucio in several 24" barrels, but I found that backing off just a bit to 66 grains yielded an average of 2880 out of a 24" and was just as accurate, and easier on the barrel and shoulder.
Just to make data very clear since I received a PM asking for clarification, my load included Federal 210 Large Rifle Match primers.
I run plain old 7828 in mine with 162 amax's. My accuracy node was right at 3040 fps. I shot a 4x4 mule deer at about 400 yards with that combo last year.

RL25.
I have found the best accuracy with acceptable velocity from Retumbo or H4831 SC .
i;ve had good luck with rl-22 with 160gr accubonds. 2935-2945 out of a 24" packnor barrel @ 63 grains
