I have 2 Projects....One I want to leave a .308 Magnum of some sort. ....The other I want to go .264,.284 .338 or .358 as a Target or Large Dangerous Game Rifle...I read in another thread about a 30 Lapua but I was leaning toward one of the 2 new Nosler Cartridges. The beltless design is a must. Will this round work in a 300WM action, bolt face and mag box?

I have 2 Project rifles and I want to make the Ruger a 1000 meter steel hunter and the 700 a Hunter.

My other rifles are chambered in 22-250,.243,257Roberts,300BLK,300WM,338/06 and 450Marlin.

Ruger 300WM Action,McMillan A3-5 Adjustable Cheek Heavy Varnint #8 Contour Channel and Vortex Viper HS Mil Dot Scope. Just need a BIG TWISTY TUBE.

Remington 700 BDL,McMillan Rem Classic,Magnum Contour Channel and Leupold 4.5-14 CDS or M1 with German #1. I have a Stainless Fluted 300WM New Takeoff....The action has $600 in it so I just need to Cerakote everything Stainless and Tan/Black Web the stock.

Bottom Rifle

Thanks for any suggestions,

Robert

I think both the new Nosler rounds use the H@H bolt face and the 30/06 length magazine. Either one u mentioned should work.
What about the 30-338 Lapua? Recoil is a non-issue as this rifle will weigh 12+ pounds and I shoot a 300RUM Sendero like a .243 as I'm a Big fella.

Thanks

Robert

Swamplord: Looks impressive! What is your rifle and what is the basic case for your wildcat, please?

As I recall you have a 7mm as well?

The bullets are interesting. Been to Peace River numerous times. Maybe I should have picked them up? smile

Your daughter is a lovely young gal; looks like she is having fun with Dad. That cow moose looks BIG!

Look forward to hearing about all this. wink

Are those Chinchaga bullets only available locally up there? I couldn't find any online information on sizes, weights, cost, etc...They look interesting but if they are made from unobtanium, it doesn't matter.

Congrats on the rifle results. Those are some darn good groups for a carry-able rifle burning 100gr of powder.
I can't understand the appeal of the Nosler cartridge line.
All of the existing 7's were way too weak and Nosler saved the day. Stuff that bad boy with some Partitions and the world is your oyster....

Same here. Looks like they took a .300 RUM and shortened it. Why not push the shoulder back and leave a longer neck and still have more performance than what they get now?!
Aint too hard for those with the first clue to figure out mag length issues..The RUMs should have looked like the noslers.
rosco1,

Is the Nosler built on a long action? Or did they make it on a medium action?
It fits in an '06 length action, which is one of the main drawing points.
I like the idea of the new Noslers.. the 30 Nosler comes out soon, interested to see real world performance on that one!
