I'm looking to buy some 8 to 12" gongs for longer range practice, maybe 5 or 6 targets total

Who makes the best ones for the money?

Thanks Guys
Some place local so you don't have to pay shipping.

www.shootsteel.com has a huge selection online though

Mike
go to local welding shops. if you stay with soft point bullets you can get away with ar 400 plate for rifles or ar 200 for handguns

That's what I'd suggest, also where I get all of my AR500 plates. I cut them out myself and build my own targets though:

Weld shops, like mine, will have surplus/remnant plate left over from jobs. They would probably be happy to cut you out some plates, for quite a bit less money than what you will find them at the store..

Yep, that's the way to do it.. My boss told me to cut out as many targets as I wanted. I have also cut him out targets too. We always have drop left from working on rock crushers etc... I cut all my stuff out by hand. It doesn't take long to cut out steel targets. If the op hits up a welding shop, I'm sure they have some laying around and would be happy to cut him out some targets. I don't know how much they would cost, but I'm sure they would be much cheaper than going to stores like coastal or sportsmans and cablela's.. Those damn steel plates from those guys are expensive!!

Bought all mine here. Super happy with them for sure.
Hang Fast Targets has a very easy mounting system, good sound and reactive.

Another vote for JCSteeltargets.com
The weld shops are a great idea.

However, I just bought mine at our local BiMart store locally. All AR500's
I've bought most of my AR500 through JC Steel and I haven't worn any out yet.

Can't say it's better than anyone else's though and as long as it says AR500 and shipping doesn't kill you, I wouldn't shy away from it.
