Doesn't seem like I see a lot of people building off of the Winchester Model 70 WSM actions. I have a New Haven Coyote in 300 WSM and I am thinking of building a 7mm WSM off of it with a Brux #4 or #5 contour 26" tube.

Settled on a 270 WSM with the Model 7 with 22" barrel.
I’d go 7 SAUM over WSM. Better brass available.
I like the M70 WSM action due to the factory mag box being 3”. My 6.5SAUM is built off one and feeds great also. I’d have Redneck build you a 7SAUM in a #4 and I’m sure it will shoot. Make sure he tunes the trigger also.

I had a 6.5SAUM built on a WSM Mod70 EW. Made a great rifle.

I even liked the stock.
I am not interested in any SAUM round, I have plenty of brass for either the 270 WSM or 7MM WSM along with dies.

I appreciate the suggestions, nd I have had Redneck work on one WSM action for me, he tuned it up nice. I will reach out to him about this rifle build.

Thanks

I am. Just bought a .325 WSM here as a donor for a 7mm WSM.

Plan on a rebarrel with an 8 twist, custom chamber for 180 ELD.
I don’t think there are many of them floating around. It’s a fine action!
I'm curious about the 35 Sambar. 250s at 2700 24 inch barrel. What's not to like?
Save time and money. Get a pre-64 M-70 action and the finished product will be worth more.

The WSM idea from Winchester was an Edsel idea. Failed.
Just like stopping production of the Rifleman's Rifle-early Model 70
corporate CEOs and lawyers can gum the works.

A 338 WM or 300 W or H&H-- even a Weatherby cartridge on the M-70 action is better. WSMs are now trail dust.
338-06 IMP or 35 Whelen Improved.
I’ve used quite a few of the WSM actions (Winchester) and they work very well. Internal mag length is 3.050” and one of the best options for the WSM round I think.
Built a 300wsm with a carbon proof and McMillan HTG Edge. Does that count?

This , it is a great action for a WSM
great action for a WSM , AND looks to be a very good platform for a 6.5 PRC
i built a 350 Rem.mag. off a WSM worked just fine, your build in a 7 mm WSM should be a good one !

Yeah that’d be my preferred use if I were to tinker with one!
The 270 WSM is easy but one of the 6.5s would be nice, not sure if they edge out the 7mm but recoil would be milder. If you wanted to get Looney a 9.3 WSM could be interesting.
I took a well worn 300WSM (Kimber not Winchester) and rebarreled to a 6.5 PRC. 3” mag box is great for that round.
How about a 450 Marlin?
Have you considered one of the proprietary cartridges from B&M Rifles and Cartridges?

PLEASE NOTE THAT I AM NOT ENDORSING THESE GUYS IN ANY WAY.

I think that the whole "proprietary cartridges" thing is BS, but I'm not in the price gouging business.
I’ve built three rifles off the WSM classic actions.

300WSM, 300WSM, 6.5WSM. All are superb rifles.

Sold the 6.5WSM years back, regretted it ever since.
