Who's got one? Thunks?
Posted By: Potsy Re: Bighorn Arms Origin - 03/28/21
Me.
.22B.R., 24” Bart 1:7, KRG Bravo.
Mostly a range toy, though I have whacked one coyote with it.
Smooth. Feeds BR cases his fine. I like the blade ejection a lot. Have a .223 Bolt head because I wasn’t sure what caliber I wanted when I ordered it. I need to go ahead and get the mag bolt head just in case.
If crap ever settles down, I’ll buy another for a switch barrel .223 Ackley/6.5 Creed hunting rig of sorts.
Only custom action I’ve ever fooled with, but I like it a lot.

I have one for a .17 fireball build I’m working on. So far I love it, but I only have the action without the barrel in a stock. Working on feeding.
I also have a defiance anti action here and like the origin more.

Also the origin’s are now a stainless receiver instead of cm. Zermatt just made the switch a few weeks ago.

Have a few. A 22 cm and .223AI I had Shaen do. Nice actions.

I’ve got a 6.5prc built with one.

I like it. Hard to beat for the price. I got it when they first offered lefty.

Did see they are switching to stainless. +$50 to price if, IRC.

I purchased one for a 6cm. I put it together with Krieger barrel and TriggerTech trigger and have yet to shoot it. I have noticed the bolt feels a little tougher to close on an empty chamber than my other bolts. Go/No Go gauges told everything is in check. I'll know more once I shoot it.

Got one in 308, really like it. The CRF on it works as it should too.

Only gripe i have with zermatt / bighorn is their shipping $.

I wanted to ordered a new bolt knob. $55 i think. Ok. Not bad. Shipping for just that. $15.

I emailed them, maybe a website glitch. No. They can only ship UPS because they are pit in the boonies...
USPS goes every where.. 🤦🏼‍♂️

Anyway. Dude @ the polished knob made me one for $35 shipped.

Hey on the bright side, it’ll have the so very handy side bolt release, integral scope base, and what else??? Haha 😂😂😂

It’ll be very worth the extra at least $600 !! Especially at the range, Instagram and the www.👍😘

I’ve got one. Great action. Wouldn’t hesitate to build on one again.

Hey, given the price of anything SS in a 700 donor right now, it's actually a decent value.

RE: Flat brims and skinny jeans;

That ain't me, dude. And it'd take me 3 years to grow a beard that some guys can fully germinate in 3 months. laugh

It is Scott, I’m just a cheap ass and like rufflin feathers. 😂😂

PS I’m 46 and still can’t grow a beard or mustache!! 🤭

I buit a 6mm Creedmoor on one because I couldn't find a decent priced Remington. I'm glad it worked out that way now, it's a very smooth and solid feeling action and I think it's a value for what you get
Posted By: Esox357 Re: Bighorn Arms Origin - 03/30/21
I got one, it misses picking up a round at times. I was told to "tap" them to seat them better? When it picks up a round it is very smooth. Little wiggle side to side when bolt is "open". Overall decent action.

Kind of an amazing industry that has sprung up building actions. Cool to see and have choices. And most of them are making hard to find lefthand actions. I've built on my last Rem 700 I do think. Now to find a pair of skinny jeans that will fit just right.

After retiring from the MC I have to fight to keep from turning my old regular pants from turning into skinny pants whistle

I did the same this year. Got tired of having to spend a bunch of Smith cost for working over a 70 action, ordered a Defiance with 3 pos safety and CRF and I believe I’ll probably break even between having to find a donor gun then having the smith make them right.

I've got one. LA Mag that I built a 6.5PRC off of. Solid action, Smooth. Just not the ticket for me. The smallish ejection port makes it difficult - damn near impossible - to load the second and subsequent rounds (6.5PRC) in the magazine (BDL-style). Using DBM negates this problem but adds weight.

My Bighorn Origin will probably go down the road in the very near future, either as a bare-bones action, or maybe as a barreled action to the right person.

You're only 3 years older than me? Looks like you're head's wore out 2 or 3 bodies... wink

Scott- For a bit more I like the Defiance AnTi plus it’s like 6-7 oz lighter. Not a thing wrong with a good 700 especially the RR prefix but hey variety is the spice of life....

Red Hawk is getting regular shipments....Hint
