Can someone explain the practical difference between the two? Without handling them I’m struggling to understand the difference

I use an EH6 but haven't owned a SL. I did a lot of looking at the SL when considering my last build because manners had one ready for inlet....but someone here had a used EH6 at the same time so I went with it. The differences I'm aware of from specs are:

1. The SL has a more closed grip than the open grip of the EH6.
2. The SL has a cheek piece.
3. The SL is only available in right hand configs. The EH6 can be inlet for right or left...it's ambidextrous in design by default if you ever shoot with your off side.

If you like ambidextrous stocks and an open grip the EH6 is a good fit. If you like ambi with a more closed grip the EH2...sorry EH3... is good. The SL specs look pretty good if you like a cheek piece and don't care about ambi design.

The EH3 is an excellent stock.

Over the last 4 or 5 years I think it's become my favorite all around hunting stock for all shooting positions. Fairly light, full enough forend to ride bags but not so thick it's awkward or can't be used with a sporter/light contour barrel, longer closed grip with swell that helps a straight trigger pull and gives me control, high enough comb that I can shoot it well from prone with a rail and low rings and still get a good fit for off-hand shooting.

EH3 does look nice. Thanks for the input

I have an EH6 for short Rem pattern I'd be happy to sell

I have one of each. They're pretty similar. The SL has a more natural cheek weld for me and a more closed grip, which I prefer. Slightly more forend meat on the SL. Both great stocks.
