Bansner makes a stock for Remington 700 short action. They also make a Sheep Hunter which fits the 700 action. I have a Sheep Hunter. Does anyone have the other stock and can you post a picture of it. The company tells me there are differences, however, there are no good pictures on their website that show the non sheep hunter. According to their site, there is less than two ounce difference in the stocks. The company tells me the wrist and forearm area is bigger. I need a pic so I can decide on it or the sheep hunter. Thanks.
Their standard 700 stock has a cheekpiece while the sheephuunter has none. As to being slimmer, maybe but their standard has a rather slim wrist and a meduim forearm- not a large as a Rem BDL, but fuller than a Mcmillan Edge or Classic compact. Have used quite a few and have had great results and thier delivery is at most 6wks, usually 1/2 that.

Actually, you can get the standard 700's with or w/o cheekpiece.
I ordered one for my 257 Roy about 2 months ago with cheekpiece.

The Sheephunter was originally made for the Remington Ti's IIRC.....

I have several Bansers and I like them very much as long as my gunsmith is doing the finish work... grin
Remington S/A on the left is their standard stock w/cheek piece, and the two on the right are S/A "Sheep Hunter" stocks. I prefer the more slender grip and forearm on the Sheep Hunter. Fine day to you, - Jim

SWEET trio ya got there.......!!!!!!!!!!!
I've had several; presently have two,a pre64 FW 30/06,and a Dakota 76 in 7mm Dakota.Thing I like about Marks' stocks is that Clay does a real good job bedding and finishing them IME, and the rifles just stay in zero forever.Service is good and Mundy(the secretary) is fun to talk to...the stocks have been pretty flawless for me.
SKane, thank you.

Bob, would love a peek of that new Dakota;) I've always been a big fan of the fast 7's. I just finished restocking a pre '64 with a Bansner's and it turned out really nice; handles great and shoots great!
I'll second that Ti, Bob, no holding out on us.
Been waiting to see the 7mm Dakota.
Has anyone sent their action in to have them do the stock work? How is the quality of their work?

First rate on my Mauser 98. Great fit, finish and function. Also, fixed other peoples fouled up metalwork. Not inexpensive, but for me, worth it.
TiLug: Just took some photos of it the other day,but need to take some more that will come out better.I'll download and email them to Skane;maybe Scott can post them for me since I do not know how grin
358:I hunted and shot a Bansner stocked 7 mag so much that Tom (at Bansners)gave me a hards time, saying I beat on the rifle eek It gave flawless performance for me,until the barrel went. They do a very nice job and fit and finish are excellent.
The customer service is 2nd to none. Turn around is fast. I have 4 of them right now.
Do any of the Bansner's come with checkering?
Nope, and for me that's better... my only nit-pic with the McMillan Hunter Edge is that it HAS checkering.

I'm the opposite. I happen to like it, but I could live without as well if it wasn't offered.
