I want to get a 3 panel bolt checkering for my M70. Anyone know a good smith. Also, do I buy a new bolt handle or they just use my old one.

It can be done either way. Jerome Glimm sells ready engraved bolt knobs with 2, 3, 4 or 5 panels already done. You can even get one with a floral pattern on the end. He will also do your bolt but the price is slightly higher. I have two of his sitting in my tool box waiting to be welded on to someone's bolt.

+1 on Jerome Glimm's bolt handles, both his weld-on and his checkering on original bolt handles are first rate. For a Model 70 with its factory bolt handle checkered, take a look at the photos on Ed LaPour's website. Winchester Model 70 Manlicher

I've got one of the Glimm handles and like it very well.

This is just another option. Charity Littleton does great work too. I had her do a handle on a 9.3X62 M98 years ago and was very pleased with it.

I had charity Littleton checker my Custom Cooper 20 KB and I'm happy. I still need to send it out for bluing.

This is a poor photo of the bolt knob that Jerome Glimm did for me.
