With all this talk of late about Remmy Ti's and faux Ti's, I'd like to see some light rifles built on other actions. Specs would be cool too, especially a finished weight. Thanks!
OK, here's my 280 AI.
pre 64 model 70 fwt action
23" fwt contour pan-nor barrel
mcm compact edge
swaro av 3-10x42 in talley lwts
7-10 oz. as she sits
not a flyweight by any means, but a lightweight well balanced rig that shoots TTSX's very well.
If it is light you are looking for check the NULA website and rifles...jim
LH SS Win. M70 in 30-06. 7lbs 3oz's. Pac Nor fwt barrel, Talleys, Leupy 6X36 and McMillan Edge.
Nice rifles guys, thanks!
Borden Timberline 280AI
Lilja #1
MCM Mt.Rifle Edge
Swaro 6x42 (was about 2oz lighter with the Leupold)
Steely--who's bottom metal on the Mauser?
Dober
Husqvarna's. I have another that has the aluminum bottom metal, which is also wider at the forward screw.
This is from an earlier Husqvarna when they were all steel.
Or ifin you're wanting a mag:
pre 64 M70 300 H&H action
#2 lilja @24.5 "
echols legend stock w/edge
swaro 3-10x42 in talley lwts
IIRC 7-12 oz. or so
I've got two on the same HVA action as Steelhead. First is a 6.5x55 with a shilen about #2, some custom metal work, Mcmillan sako hunter edge, Leupold 6x42 with m1. Comes in about 7.5 lbs. Second in the works is a jc higgins 51l (same husky action) factory barrel with rear sight "donut" turned off making it about a #1 contour, brown stock I'm working on and either a 6x36 or 4x33 Leupold. My goal for #2 is 6.5 lbs. And I should be really close judging by individual part weights.

It started with a Leupold 2.5-8, you know the ones that never lose zero.

I told the next owner they have great customer service
Custom Ed Brown Ozark 7mm-08

Swaro 3-9x36

Pre-64 M-70 in 30-06 with a Pacific Research stock and S&B Summit
Never too old. Oh you said adopt, not adapt
I also told the new owners of my old Leupolds that Leupy had good customer service. A great selling point
M38 Swede, 6.5x55, 6.75 #s, with sling and 5 in the mag.
Pre-64 M-70 in 30-06 with a Pacific Research stock and S&B Summit
JWP,
can we see a 'better' picture of the stock?
looks woodlike swirl
Pre-64 M-70 in 30-06 with a Pacific Research stock and S&B Summit
JWP: Nice! Could you see good through that scope?
I'd likely not run a Leupold if I lived in Jersey and all my tough hunting happened in Pencilvainya.
Me? I don't live nor hunt in either place.......
Rifles Inc...Model 70 ong action. Any caliber up to .375, 5 3/4lbs
NOT mine at $2800.00 but sure would like one

You Passaic County boys are funny..

I COULD!!
Might add that the rifle has a Krieger match grade barrel
I'll try to take another picture for the gentleman that wanted to see the stock better
No need to put a photo up here of it becasue everyone knows what it looks like, but the Kimber Montanas are about as light as you can get.
Mine is in .325 WSM

Sounds like what I'm gonna shoot for in .257Rob.
Just leary cause I hear the same amount of good and bad.

Smart too, smart enough to get the [bleep] out of there at an early age.
Top......ULA .284 Win/22" bbl w/Talley Ltwts & VXIII 2.5-8x. Weighs 6-1/4 lbs as pictured.
Bottom......Kimber Montana .257 Rbts/22" bbl w/Talley Ltwts & VXIII 2.5-8x. Weighs 6-1/4 lbs as pictured.
Some great stuff here guys!
Not a true lightweight but not bad for all it brings to the table. In my mind it has a good combination of ruggedness, LR cabiltites, and still fun to shoot.
Howa action, custom Broughton contour @ 24", High Tech specialties stock, ceracoat, Talley steel bases/rings and very accurate. 7mmWSM
Mannlicher Ultra LIght goes 6#...jim

Cerro'ed flat black

S&B 10X42 PMII

Very nice rifles posted.
I'll have a couple to post in the next few months. McEdge stocked M70 SS classic in 7RM, should tip the scales at 7lbs 13 oz give or take with 3-9 VX II on board.
I also just bought a Ruger SS UL, topped with a 2-7 Leupie should come in at 7 lbs, 3-4oz or so.
Although not true ultralights, they meet my needs well.
Mannlicher Ultra LIght goes 6#...jim
That's purty. What chambering?

What the heck type of scopes mounts are they ? Looks like two small mailboxes.
Thinking it's the new double elevated C-thru's...normally seen on 742's and 760's back east...
Sorry but I couldn't resist.
Dober
Thanks STA and Dober, I'm really liking the grand old 300 H&H.

I'm thinking you're a little closer to 9 pounds...not including the bipod.
The S-M Ultra Light comes in the .308 case short cartridges, the one pictured was a .243 Win IIRC. The scope mounts were developed by S-M, I first saw them on the Steyr Scout. Talley has a nice replacement.

Here you go: NULA .300Win. 6&3/4 lbs as you see it.
Lefty C
It's a nice looking rifle, but I'd get a more stealthy scope mount myself.
Got one that's very similar Shootingnurse. Mine has a 98 action, which has been lightend, M70, two position safety, steel Remington FP & TG, PN Super Match, #1 contour barrel with shoulder cut down, Leupold steel QR rings and bases, 6X42 Leupold FX3, and MPI Kevlar stock. 7 1/4 lbs. empty and w/o CW Sling. 30'06.
Got another that's a Ruger tang safety action, lightend, another PN, SM, #1 contour barrel w/ shoulder cut down, McM Ruger stock, and 6X42 M8 Leupold. That one goes 7.5 lbs. empty w/o CW Sling. .280 Remington. E

Lefty,
I like the looks of your rig but it's gotta jar your teeth loose in a .300, no?

Nice!
I agree! I was really impressed when he first posted that up right after he built it...
Hold the fluff...............
OH..ok Guess I am just a Talley LW lover.

Nope no tooth jarring but it aint exactly a maidens touch.

I am too..have been for years.
I DID however order a set of DeDNutz lightweights. Cut out the bridge (cause I like 2 piece) and am real please with the look and feel of them. Seem to be solid but the factory finish isnt that durable..fixed that too.
338-06
Ruger tang safety, Shillen barrel #4 contour, flat black Dura Coat finish bedded to a Boyds Nutmeg laminate stock.
Here's mine up in the mountains. Kimber Select 308 Win, #3 Hart barrel, you can see the rest...goes a little over 7 1/4 lbs. Not super light but I like it. Recently replaced the scope to a Zeiss 2.5-8 and switched to Talley light weight rings....about an even swap with weight.
Lefty What do you feed that Model 28, I have one just like it that shoots the barnes TSX very well but it has trouble with noslers ?
Top it................
Nice paint job on that one Sticker..good camo job if thats what you were shooting for. Would just about disappear in an Andy Warhohl painting. Lemme guess, paint came from clearance isle at WalMart ?

that's definetely a Montucky....odds are it's a 7WSM.....best of the WSM's.....no fluff there...
OH..ok Guess I am just a Talley LW lover.

Lefty... nice NULA, jealous! You did seem to miss the fact that he was never talking to you about YOUR mounts... he was talking about the MS mounts on someone else's rifle...
