That Farquharson is simply stunning.
WOW! Those are some magnificent rifles.
Thanks for sharing them with us.
Great stuff tsquare! If them won't give a feller a chubby, I don't know what will.
You have great taste my friend in both rifle and caliber.

Oh oh oh oh hold on guys. Damn, better than viagra there
GREAT! Thanks for sharing those with us!
Those are some wonderful rifles. Enjoy!
Those are definately a few nice rifles!!!
Beautiful. I know craftsmanship like that is made to be hunted, but I'd be scared to take em out of the house.
I've already put a nick on the Farquharson at the range, and will take the Goudy 25-06 on the Lander one-shot antelope hunt in September. I'll be using all of them sooner or later.
TT
That Farquharson is simply stunning.
No kidding!
All four are stunning pieces. I have always enjoyed Gary Goudy's work and his checkering is second to none.
Amazing - what's the contour in pic #2?
Don't know exactly, but it is a lightweight tube. I'd guess around a #2 contour.
TT
Wow, those are beautiful!!!
wow I really like the 25-06 and the Farquharson is out of this world.
Simply amazing. Every single one would qualify as "my dream rifle." The calibers are spread out well enough to all make sense too.
The photography is beautiful also. It really sets these guns off. I need to learn how to do that one day.
Terry
Tell us about the knife pictured in the last photo. It looks fantastic, also.
Great stuff tsquare! If them won't give a feller a chubby, I don't know what will.
Oh oh oh oh hold on guys. Damn, better than viagra there
+1
Those are some absolutely STUNNING rifles man!
123456,
The knife is a 3-3/4"blade of Damascus steel that was put together by Curt Crum of the David Miller Co. Curt is a fantastic riflemaker, but he also knows how to make a knife. The blade was made by Rob Charlton of Damascus USA many years ago, as I had it for at least twenty years before Curt finished it up for me.
TT
123456,
Thought you might like to see a little bigger photo of the knife so I've attached one. It's not a great photo, but gives you an idea about it.
TT
Tom,
You've done it again! Beautiful rifles.
Butch
Those are absolutely gorgeous rifles.
Those are striking!
Want some help at the range? -:)
Thanks for the information on the knife. The reason I was curious is that below is one I made several years ago. Similiar to yours, except mine has a guard.
154 CM steel, mirror polished (the reason for the reflection on the blade), and desart ironwood scales for the handle.
Didn't mean to hi-jack your thread, but I always like to look at works or art, and both your rifles and the knife fit into the art catagory.
Thanks for posting.
Gorgeous rifles sir. What do you guys do for a living?
I missed the boat somewhere along the way.. Dammit
Wareagle,
Just a working stiff like most everyone else. I spent a career in the US Army for 26 years, and have been writing for the outdoor press for some 38 years now. These days, at my age, I do mostly what I want to do that I'm still capable of doing. Today I'm off to the range with my son and grandson. Gotta see how the Farquharson and the 9.2x62 shoot.
TT
I would be very disappointed if both didn't shoot great. My 9.3X62 has turned out to be a favorite. It is very accurate and does not have the recoil that I thought it would have.
Butch
Mr. Turpin,
I like your writing and your taste in rifles and hope you write up your present crop of beauties. I especially liked your coverage of the rifles of Jack OConnor.
I was wondering you did an article about Model 70s and you had some custom maker make your stocks. Who was it? They were French Walnut and wonderful.
Sincerely,
Thomas
Tom:
After eyeballing what seems like thousands of rifles I daresay those are nigh on perfect.
Thanks for posting those beauties.
Warms the cockles of my heart.
Thomas,
I much appreciate your kind remarks. While I've used several stock makers over the years, most of my stocks from the last four or five years have been crafted by Gary Goudy of Dayton, Washington. He's done at least five for me the past few years. I hope to get him to do a few more before I quit.
TT
Oh my Gawd that is just about perfect in my book! Huba huba...
I'm a fan of your work and your rifles.
If you decide to thin the herd,I'd like a chance at some of your culls.
Thanks for posting some fine photos of some fine examples of master craftsmanship.
Tom,
Looks like your rifles continue to be better-looking than most. But hell, it's been that way for a while!
After shooting quite a few 9.3x62's, I am beginning to think it's one of those "inherently accurate" cartridges. Will be very interested in how your new 9.3 shoots.
Oh, My My My...Those are just grand! Bear
Those are incredible! T you have a collection that would anyone proud.
GreggH
John,
I agree with you on the "inherently accurate" description of the 9.3x62. The first three-shot group out of the rifle -- unfouled, new barrel, etc., et.al., measured precisely 0.264" center to center. I'll post a photo of the group shortly. I'd like to take credit for it, but my son Jeff shot the group. My best group was well under 1", but nowhere near 0.264". That was using Hornady factory 286 grain ammo. I don't think I'm even going to work up a hand load for the rifle as I'm sure I cannot better that. Needless to say, it is a shooter.
TT
I imagine that takes care of the allowance for the month Tom. "Stunning" is the word that comes to mind.
John, all,
Here is a photo of the very first group through the GMA 9.3x62. Yes, there are three holes in the group.
TT
One sometimes wonders how three shots like that are possible considering all the ways nature is trying to keep them apart.
I have a Blaser K-95 Luxus with AAAA in 30/06 coming next month. After seeing your Farquharsen, I hope the K95 doesn't more closely resemble a bar stool leg.
what is the yardage of this target ? every gun in my safe will do this at 25 yards
what is the yardage of this target ? every gun in my safe will do this at 25 yards
Are they all this pretty?
no definitly not ! it is a beut !
Guys,
It goes without saying that the targets were at 100 yards. I wanted to avoid the powder burns on the target.
