converting a 580 series Remington 22lr to centerfire?

Any body here done one of these conversions?
the new 17 Hornet is calling to me...
I've got a 580 single shot that as a 17 Hornet would be perfect step between my 582 long rifle and my 223.

Thoughts?

I hear Dan Olson in Plains Montana is THE to to the conversion from rim fire to center fire.

I almost think jim calhoun of calhoun bullets sold the conversions.

Can these be safely converted to anything in the larger 22 caliber family?

Calhoun sells the 'plans' to convert but I don't have a lathe and I haven't run one in about 8 years so I'd probably be paying someone.

The action can go up to a 221 fireball size so I've read on saubier.com

I hate the Savage 25 but find the 17 Hornet interesting and don't see anyone bringing out anything similar in size to the 580 series or doesn't cost $1500 like a Cooper
