I can see at their website the Rem Classic has a 1.720 inch wide forearm and 11/16" drop at comb, but what about the Rem Hunter????
Not sure on the specs of the Rem Hunter but I love them - its all I use!!!

They are a little wider up front & can take a bigger barrel contour.
Herschel, did you decide on the barrel contour? Check out the McMillan Sporter also. Probably the 2nd most popular stock on 24hr and will hold a #5 better than a classic.

Yeah. I am going to do the #5 Brux and flute it. I PM'd aalf whose run several nonfluted #5s in the Classic.

I initially was going to go with the Sporter but the open grip does not suit me. I have a KS that I am not fond of for that very reason.

I am concerned about the size of a fluted # 5 in the classic but after speaking with aalf I think I will be fine. I thought about changing to the Hunter but I would rather not have the Montecarlo design.

Merry Xmas
Aalf knows his [bleep]. Look forward to the completion pics.
You wont regret the classic. I have 2 with hart 5 contours in them - one fluted in an edge and one unfluted in a std fill. Just right in my opinion

Fyi - i started with a remington hunter on the first of the two rifles noted above. IMO that stock has too much meat for a 5 contour. That stock seems like more of a benchrest stock to me - mine was a club and i have been much happier with the classic.
