On one of these forums someone posted that there was a slick way to remove the side tab bolt release on a M1640 HVA action to streamline a custom build. I am looking for that information.

It's real easy. You remove the bolt release and cut it off before it makes the "hump" and re-install. Now to remove the bolt you simply push the ejector down with your fingure.

When you restock (assuming it's wood) you don't cut out for the bolt release and the wood line will cover the hole in the action.

Very slick. I have always wanted to build a proper mannlicher 8x57 on one. Went around a bit with Roger Green on it then left the country for a spell so it has taken a back seat.
Thanks. I just picked up a barreled action said to be assembled by Roger Green. New 23" Douglas barrel, Timney trigger, 3 position safety. It needs bottom metal (Wiebe or Blackburn) and a piece of english. I will keep that picture as inspiration. Those are Talley mounts aren't they?
