For anyone who has Facebook, Defiance has a new action it looks like they'll start producing. The Deviant Ultralight.

Could you have much more of a solid/lightweight hunting platform?
Looks pretty much perfect to me.

I wonder if they could do Talley bases rather than a 1913?

How much lighter are these than a Remington action?

Maybe someone can comment on what a factory action weighs.

Defiance claims their short action is 1 lb. 9 oz. (25 ounces) which is a hair lighter than say what a Borden Alpine is listed (26.5 ounces). I'm not sure if the Borden includes the weight of a lug.
Found this with a google search:

"S/A BDL 2lb 4oz
L/A BDL 2lb 7oz

The following weights of full actions (bolt, guard screws, trigger guard magazine liner, trigger assembly, recoil lugs, follower and spring) - everything except the barrel, stock, scope and mounts"

2 lb 4 oz (Rem) to 1 lb 9 oz (Defiance) for a SA. But I bet the Defiance action weight doesn't include bottom metal, trigger, screws, lug...

A lug weighs an oz. ADL trigger guard 2 oz. I think I weighed a Jewell trigger once, and IIRC it was at or less than 3 oz. All that stuff is 6 oz. Screws maybe add an oz.

The Defiance might end up weighing more than the 700! But it's a Defiance, not a Rem.
My Pierce Ti receiver with Ti recoil lug weighs 1lb 4oz.
Butch, how do you like your Pierce? How's the balance, and does it shoot well?
