Trying to decide on barrel contour between the bartlein 2b and 3. Does anyone know at what length the 2b and 3 are .725? Thinking it will be threaded 5/8x24.
Thanks
#3 will be .725 @ 20"
2b will be .725@16 5/8
What bore size you using? Purpose?
Bartein contours are largish. Great barrels but heavy....

I agree, sure wish they would dupe the Rock Creek #3 2B is as close as we will get!
I had a Bartlein #3 put on a hunting rifle. That rifle now has a Rock #3, because the Bart was too heavy. And I'm not one who is really particular about weight, anything with good balance that weighs (with scope) 7.5-8.5 lbs is fine. But the Bart #3 was nose heavy and overall a touch too big.
I vote Bart 2B.
Thanks for the info. It will be a .223. Thinking 16"-20" barrel. Will go in an edge or eh8 with leupold 4x. Didn't think the 2b would make 16" at .725 but I do like a short barrel. I bet the 3 at 18" or 20" wouldn't suck though.

Been there on the #3 and agree with a 2b for a hunting rifle. My #3 was in an EH3 and was a touch nose heavy.
Sounds like some varmint hunting in order, weight helps steady. I vote 19-21" - 2B may be enough heft for you, but a 3 could well be as heavy as I'd want in a 22 bore. Plenty mass. I had a SG&Y 221FB around 22-24 - cannot recall, about a Mag Sporter contact and it was very steady.
2B or not 2B, that is the question. (Sry - couldn't resist)
Looked at the pics of the sporter, 2b, and brux3 in the other thread they do a good job of showing the difference in size. 90% sure on the 2b at this point but still unsure of length.
