Here are my thoughts on my next project. I welcome any input on minor tweaks

6.5 Creed
Bighorn SR3 action
McMillan Game Hunter
Bartlein 2b or Brux 3 (fluted for looks), somewhere between 20-22" ( ? What size shank is average? Need to know for the stock inlet I think)
APA bottom metal with a Curtis flush mag
Timney?

Guess of a finished weight?

7.8# but that is a WAG since you haven't specified the barrel dimensions or fill of the stock.

Standard fill swirly

Yep. And utah708's guesstimate on weight would be right there with what I'd surmise.

What about a trigger?

I'm only familiar with Timney as far as personal use. I have felt a jewel and it was bad ass but ive heard they don't like to get any dust or grit.

Trigger Tech? Bix Andy?

This will be a hunting rifle for mostly TX hunting. Lots of utv riding and dust

I personally don't have any experience with a Bix and Andy but if I was going to buy a trigger today it would be a BA
I've heard jewells have issues but I have used them in windy and dusty Nevada to Montana snowing for 5 days in -10* temps with winds blowing 10-15 mph and they always go bang!

water bottle would freeze within an hour!

If you're going with a DBM, consider the TL3 action instead of the SR3. The ejection port cut out on the SR3 looks odd, at least to my eye. The TL3 might be a bit heavier, which may matter to you. Of course if you already have the SR3 action, never mind.

BTW - The DBM is a good idea. I have a SR3 (short action, extended mag box, Sunny Hill BM, 6.5 SAUM) project under way right now. It shoots great, but feed/eject is a big problem. I'm about to throw in the towel and call it a failure.

By chance do you have a picture of the sr3 port that looses some points in the cosmetic aspect?

I do not have the action yet and will order one soon.

I don't post pics on internet forums, but a quick image search will turn up what you're looking for. Basically Zermatt opened up the ejection port WRT the TL3, but only in the middle and with a large radius cut out. The ejection ports on the SR2 and TL3 look much better, at least to my eye.

Did you ever get your 6.5 Saum to shoot. I just ordered a sr3 for a 7saum build with an extended box?

The Wyatt boxes are an easy skip....

Go DBM with a center feed mag and the world is a much better place.
