How are the older tang safety Ruger’s for a custom platform? I’ve got one in .243 That I was considering toying with. Are they worth tearing down and bringing back to life? Or am I better off finding a different action to work up?
Here are some ideas.....

They are great guns, I have 3 tangers and have had many more in the past.
RJjenner only seems to work on really old Rugers. Mines not pre war. I’m just wondering if the base action is a good candidate for building upon.

What?

The Pre War that the website is referring to is a style, not an age for M-77's.
They are modified to look like pre-WW2 sporters from the English and Continental makers

Oh.

Yeah, it would be pretty tough having a pre-war Ruger, since they are a post war company.

Actually, thanks for clarifying. That had me highly confused too. I didn’t think they were that old.
I have three tangers. All have had many modifications, only the actions haven't been changed. Mag boxes lengthened, McMillan stocks, Timney triggers.

Two SAs both have the long discontinued McMillan Ultralight stocks: One is 284 win, the other is 338 RCM with a second barrel in 6mm-284. I have one mag bolt face and one standard bolt face for the SAs. The barrels are interchanged as needed, I barreled them myself so headspace was made with one bolt or the other.

The third rifle is a LA in 257 Weatherby in a McMillan Hunter stock.

All chambers were made with custom spec'ed reamers.

Easy pass,as there is nothing redeeming mechanically, nor ergonomically.

Hint............

So yes a Ruger tang safety will be a good choice for a custom rifle.
