What’s it weigh before scope? I’m about to do something similar
Posted By: K22 Re: Shaen Rifles .223 AI - 08/30/19
I see a barreled action, bolt handle, and a scope, but where is the stock???? confused grin

Awesome setup. Cain't wait to hear the range report.

It weighs 8lbs exactly, as pictured. So knock 20oz off that for the scope. Handling is perfect, with a little weight forward for stability. Balance point is halfway between the front action screw and recoil lug....

Break in and range report will be coming this weekend but I won't be able to stretch it out until I get back down to the farm in about a month.

Thanks I’m doing a similar one in 22-250. My target weight is 7 pounds but I’ll use a model seven action, an edge fill stock and a lighter scope so my weight should be achievable

I bet yours is an absolutely hammer and easy to shoot. Love it

Cartridge consolidation is definitely a current event around here but I'm not sure I could give up this rifle. I've owned the receiver for about 20 yrs, I think. It has a high body count including my daughters biggest buck.

Just revitalizing it a bit, so don't hold your breath pal! A new 7 twist .22 Creed from Shaen is due soon. If it can't hold 1/2 MOA I'll give you a call! I know how you hate accurate rifles.....

Awesome rifle. Well thought out. Nothing better than a MR stock paired with a #2 contour.
Posted By: ingwe Re: Shaen Rifles .223 AI - 09/01/19
Thats a NICE rig!
Posted By: GeorgiaBoy Re: Shaen Rifles .223 AI - 09/01/19
Very nice Sir. Well thought out. Some physical issues are forcing me to give up heavier rigs. I need a light (null recoil) rifle for ground blinds. You have provided food for thought my friend. Well done!

Nicely done - great overall package.

Welll??????
Posted By: Rustyzipper Re: Shaen Rifles .223 AI - 09/05/19
I might have to send this M600 action back to him. Bought it from him a while back and didn't have him put the rifle together. It was my indecision that caused it, not Shaen. Be Well. Rustyzipper

Sorry fellas, been busy as hell but found a little time this afternoon to shoot. Shot 2-10rnd groups to adjust zero. Sorry for the s#!ty pick, the top group measured about 1.6" with a flyer that was 3/4" out, not typical for this rifle.

The bottom group is very representative of what I'm seeing so far. While doing load work up, I shot several 5 shot groups in the .3's and .4's from sandbags and the bench.

Very happy with the way it turned out and how it shoots! Got about 800 Amax's leftover that I'm gonna put through this rifle before moving on to Eld's...

Edited to add: Barrel was allowed to cool between groups but not between shots.

Oh, it should go without saying but I'll mention it anyway...

This load is safe in my rifle but may not be in yours, WORK UP ACCORDINGLY!

Shaen knows how to bush a bolt and turn a pin! These loads are most definitely north of 60K psi........

Great looking rifle; glad to see you are shooting 10 shot groups instead of the usual 3 shot BS groups we see so much of here so that everyone can have a "MOA" rifle.

MM
Very nice

Agree 100% MM. I could have cherry picked several 3-shot groups in the .2's and 5-shot groups in the .3's and .4's but 10-shot groups are far more representative of the true accuracy of a shooting system, IMO.. I've since shot enough 10 shot groups, prone from a bipod to say it's easily a sub MOA riflegrin.....
