Does anyone in this site rechamber encore barrels?
John
Diablo did mine and did a good job. He got a lot of grief on this site because of the time it took to do jobs.

I rechambered several and finally had to just quit doing them. IME the SS they use or used is very prone to galling. Had to buy several barrels when a chunk would tear out of the chamber with the reamer or a chip would more or less weld itself to the reamer and leave a ring in the chamber. Happened too many times on different calibers for it to be coincidence. I’m only speaking to SS and only Encore barrels BTW. I had no issues with blued Contender barrels.
This one's a Bergara barrel...
I'm not a fan.
Why??? I've thought of just ordering a MGM barrel.

For that reason. I can order one from MGM and not have to sacrifice one. Its just a thing with me. What I would do is ream a chamber to make a K caliber or a 357 mag to a max, something like that. If that is what you're talking about then I withdraw my comment and agree with you.
That's what I meant. Just to ream or the 308 to 300 H&H.
Considering the varied feedback it may not be my best option.
Well, it's not a big loss if it doesn't work the way you want it to.
That's true. Just one of the fun things to consider.
Its just another fun day in the world of a certified rifle loony...like me.
You may want to contact Mike Bellm about it. I've read on his website that he does rechamber work.
When Bellm rechambers a barrel he sets it up concentric with the bore not the outside of the barrel like most gunsmiths. In the past T/C barrels were notorious for having off center chambers. T/C also carried on this tradition with their QLA in muzzle loader barrels. I have seen many that were so off center you could see it with the naked eye. "America's Master Gunmakers" indeed.
I sent Bellm am email last week.
Still no response.....
While the H&H is a fine round, the tapered case does put a good bit of back thrust on the receiver. You might want to consider a different 30 cal that will clean up the 308 chamber. I don't know if a 30-06 AI will clean it up. 300 Win, 30 Newton, 300 Wby or a 300 H&H Imp. If you decide on the latter, I have dies that I can part with.

Does it now?
I think I'm going to leave it as is for now. Bolt thrust is a possible issue.
However, I think it a minor one.
Waiting to hear from Mike Bellm.....

I personally know Mike Bellm, he use to live here in my town...

over zealous city fathers, ran him out... he got tired of all of their "new regulations" ideas..

Mike is probably one of the most meticulous people I've ever watched working on anything...

He was always trying to talk me into an Encore, but I just couldn't warm up to them...

If he hasn't returned your phone call or email, I'd say he is probably out hunting if its hunting season where
he is at in Colorado now...

Mike was the last guy to train under P.O. Ackley, and bought all the equipment Ackley had when he closed shop...
so that is whose equipment he uses to do his work on...
