Seems like if you want a skinny stainless barrel, you go to Lilja or Hart or? Bartlein, Kreiger, Brux, etc don't seem to sell stainless barrels in less than #3 or #4 contour. Bartlein will do a #2 but only in a 23" finish length.

Ordering barrels for next years projects, so would love some guidance on skinny stainless barrel makers, ideally cut rifled, though maybe I'll decide I don't care about that. Any thoughts?

Rock Creek will......

Hawk Hill did a SS Lilja 2 contour for me but it is a .22 cal that will be finished at 22”

I’d like to do a 6.5 in SS in something smaller than Bart 2b or equivalent but don’t know where to go
Bartlein will do what they call a #0 ”Featherweight #2” in stainless, which I believe has a straight taper from the shank to the start of the barrel taper. It has to do with the barrels that use sweeping transitions from shank to the beginning of the barrel taper being too thin in the chamber area for all possible chambers.

A good smith can turn you a lean barrel based on your shank and chamber characteristics.
Get it turned down to the contour you want by your Smith? I've had 2 done and accuracy wasn't effected in the least.
Have a Hawk Hill Montana dupe contour that's spectacular.
I have four Hawk Hill #2 here, mag sporterish.

Had a Rock 20" MR contour in a 6x47 Lapua not that long ago.

Hawk 2 contour is about the same as a Bart 2b if my memory is correct
The Bartlein O contour is a good compromise, it puts the steel where it does the most good at a fair weight. It could be turned down to a true feather weight contour but for now I will leave it alone. Shilen will do almost all their contours in stainless. Douglas too.

The only one not claimed is a 1-8 #2 6.5. And I’m tempted to keep it and go 6.5 PRC on the Crusty 7 Mag.
Benchmark gets pretty skinny and shoots great.
Looks like it's Hawk Hill and Rock Creek. F-- it, it's Christmas. I need a 358 cal barrel also so looks like I'm going Benchmark for that one.

Maybe you should be looking into carbon wrap barrels from Proof barrels ?

The thinnest Proof CF barrel is nearly a Remington Varmint contour.

Carbon Six has a featherweight contour that’s thinner, but it’s not ultra thin.
Proof barrels seem light for contour, but not necessarily ultra light.

I have a #2 from them in .284. Pretty darn light.
Brux will do certain calibers in #2.
Just received a #2 contour 1-8” twist in 6.5 from rock creek. Lucked into a Black Friday deal where they contoured a in stock blank and it was sub $300 delivered. Fantastic

That is great. You avoided a 6 month wait.
