I had a hen with 12 poults in the garden this morning. Young were almost quail size. First I've seen this year, but it's encouraging. We need a good hatch for a change.
That sounds good for you but was just out this evening with boys fishing seen eight hen birds and not a single poult with them looks like another bad year in northeast PA for turkeys
Not looking so good here again. The hens tend to nest in the hay fields and wheat fields, both which are sometimes harvested before the eggs hatch, particularly the hay. We ran over a nest when cutting the first hay back in May. I've seen a number of hens, and yet to see one with poults.
I have seen several hens along the railroad lately but very few poults, we have had yet another deluge of rain this Spring (34" so far this year) and our predator populaton is out of control so this is about par for the course of what ive seen over the last several years 👎🏿.....Hb
