The public land I hunt was swamped with hunters this year; all those folks on Covid Vacation I guess. I heard not a single gobble, and only one shot in two days. Doesn't take much to push the birds (or deer) off onto private land across the river.
This tom was well over 20 lbs. Taken with a 1300 Winchester Black Shadow with 22 inch barrel and rifle sights, a Primos XF tube and Winchester LongBeard #4s at 17 paces.
A lone hen came in 5 minutes earlier to investigate my poor soft calling then blurted out a loud seven note assembly call. She did a better job calling him in than I could have.
