I'm putting my turkey gear away and eating a bowl of tag soup at the same time....

One thing I do is review the gear and decide what is worth keeping and what should be thrown or never done again.

So I'm making a list of the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.

The good: Black finger cots to put on your shotgun muzzle The work great to keep dirt out of the bore when you lay it down. Find them on amazon
The bad: Retiring a pot call I bought at a sports show turkey hunting presenter. The guy is getting old and could tell Alzheimer's was gripping him so it was a mercy buy to help him reduce his wares and I learned I liked pot calls and upgraded.
The ugly: My Alpz grand slam turkey vest with a kick stand seat. It was uncomfortable. I like throwing my chair & decoy in a back pack and the other stuff in my messenger bag.

Bonus good: Permethrin treating my clothes... no ticks at all in season F.

So what's on your list?
With the exception of a couple of misses I didn't have much bad or ugly....

The good was I didn't get a tick on me wearing my new "No Fly Zone" Under Armour Camo.

It's fabric is pretreated with Permethrin and you are guaranteed bug free for 72 washings....I figure the thread is treated before the fabric is made.

I'm a believer.
AWESOME year !!!!

The good: 4 longbeards tagged in 6 total days hunting across 2 different states. Two of those were my first Osceolas.

The bad: If it weren't for a flock of hens, I'd have done the above in 5 days.

The ugly: Barely (like a couple feet) missed a wrong-way driver coming at me head-on 65 mph at 3:00 AM on I-4 going through Tampa on the way hunting one morning.
Awesome year!!

The great: daughter got her first gobbler at age 5 on the opening day of season.

The bad: several all day hunts where one wrong move on my parted ruint the whole day. Still had fun
Tag soup for me too. They stayed across the Shenandoah on the days I hunted.

As to gear, the Alps (Elite?) vest I bought was pretty good, except the shoulders bind at the top. It needs another front strap higher up.

The guns I put together worked fine on paper. Have covered them to death elsewhere here, but the main focus was on light weight and good sights without losing range. Accomplished.

Weather was great, lots of birdies to watch, and the wildflowers were amazing.
Never tried tag soup....

The good: got to spend time hunting with my dad and killed a couple birds.

The bad: had a good longbeard at 20 yards and couldn’t get a shot. Bad position on my part.

The ugly: that would just be me
