Anyone else need to apply already? For WI, applications for the draw need to be in by Dec. 10th. If you forget to apply, or don't get drawn, there are left over tags that become available in March. And if you are drawn, you're still eligible to try for any left over tags. More than once, I've had multiple tags for multiple seasons. And if, for whatever reason, I'm not drawn and without a tag, I still go to along to either call or just be a pain in the a$$ in camp! Lol!

Wow. I was unaware you had to draw for a tag to hunt spring turkeys in WI. Maybe you mentioned it in the past and I forgot.

I don't think I could survive in a state where I had to apply for a spring turkey permit......

😵‍💫

Did not know that either, that would for sure suck. We have seen a reduction in the bag limit here in TN from 4, to 3, and this year down to 2. Draw hunts may be coming at some point, who knows.
Here in Colorado we have OTC tags. But you can apply for special hunts/areas that will let you take an additional gobbler. Time to apply for those is @ Feb 1st. If you draw a special tag & then you can still hunt OTC-----a couple times I've killed 2 gobblers.

Had to apply for Texas wildlife management area and national refuge hunts for next spring by November 1st. Already been notified I wasn’t drawn for the 4th year in a row so I now have 4 preference points to try for the spring of 2024 to kill 1 BS public land rio. You have to pay a small fee for each area you apply for and the number of permits are extremely limited. Texas Parks & Wildlife likes to brag about over a million acres of public access land. Great for small game but virtually inaccessible for big game. As a non-native Texan it appears to be done by design so you have to pay the ranchers if you want to hunt big game. I’ve hunted turkey hunted public land in a number of states and never experienced as crappy a public hunt system as they have here.

South Dakota when to draw system also. Big push by outfitters to have draw hunts in some states from what I been reading.

With decling turkey populations over the country because of the Avion flu it's either go to a draw or have nothing to draw for....

Tennessee needs to go to a non resident draw.

No draws in Virginia except for specialty hunts. I didn't draw an elk tag. I didn't draw a tag for a pre-season spring turkey hunt on a desirable WMA. I did draw a doe tag for a bucks only WMA. Otherwise, all our hunts only need OTC licenses.
I successfully drew a WI 2023 spring turkey tag. It's not until the middle of May! But it's still a tag. Non-residents are pretty low priority in the draw process. Even though I'm a property owner up there, you need 50 contiguous acres for landowner preference, I have 40. Told my wife I NEED to purchase 10 more acres! Lol! There are "leftover" tags that go on sale in March, hoping to score something earlier in the season.
