Out looking for morels and flushed hen turkey off her nest. Hope to see some Tom's out of this clutch in a couple of years.
I have a nest in my pasture. One of the dogs pointed her last Thursday but I thought it was an incidental find as that happens on occasion. When the same dog found her in the same place last night I realized I had a nest there. Between her and a hen pintail in the same field, I have lost at least a third of my training ground. I hope any pheasants in the area pick some place else to nest or I will be shut out until mid-June at least.
Did I count 16 eggs? That must be one big hen. The survival rate of turkey eggs to pullets to adults is really low. The gobblers spend their whole life at night in a tree Hen's the same except for 5 weeks on the ground during nesting. Must be a very stress filled time with everything on the ground at night.
Hopefully you will see a few from that brood.
Good luck and shoot straight

Terrific pic RO
Have never come across such in my woodsy travels.
Thanks for posting.
We had one nesting in the slash pile near the house but something got all her eggs this week.
