I have shot tons of turkeys over the years and it continues to be my favorite hunt. There is nothing like hearing Gobblers in the roost in the early morning, before light. Getting within range and setting up decoys to call them adds to the adventure.

This year is one of the best, if not the best with the turkey success and reactions to our calls and decoys. This year in Montana, you can legally shoot up to 12 turkeys...

They're not talking much in the Bitterroot this year for some reason. I didn't hear a single gobble, though there's plenty of birds around, and they're strutting hard.
I've filled my tags too, but had to spot them strutting around and belly crawl through the tick infested weeds to get within range.

A guy can get 12 tags in Montana, sure, but several have to be beardless fall hunts (not a damn thing wrong with that), and regional.....IE you can shoot a single hen in region 1, region 2, etc.

Beautiful birds. I hope to have a caped out one someday soon. My Eastern’s are good looking but nowhere close to those.

What type of broad-head were you using in that 2nd picture?

Nice haul by the way!! I only have been in Montana to flyfish. But turkey season over there sounds tempting. Going this Friday over here in the Mich. area.
Montana boys getting it done!

I have shot several turkeys with a bow. I use a Shuttle "T" Lock 3 blade fixed...

That bow is way to modern for you old man.
Don’t you know that’s the creedmoor of bows???

That may be true, but traditional bows and flyrods are for someone else. I'm not going to fish or hunt with inferior junk. Neither traditional bow or bamboo flyrod will hang with the Sharps or Winchester lever gun of the same vintage...
