By chance anyone have a synthetic forearm laying around? I know somebody was making them years ago for the 99 or maybe they still are.

Thanks!

Can't remember the name.. MSI, MRI, MSC.. .something like that. A long time ago a campfire member posted a pic of a great elk that I think his wife took with a 99 with one of their stocks.

Mike, $389 for the stock and then you need to:
-- STOCK BLANKS (needs fitting, glass bedding, pad, studs and paint)

They used to offer a schnabel tipped forearm style.

Get a wood forearm, dip or spray with plastidip . Wont be able to tell the diff. Plus it offers great grip.

Yea that was plan B, i have wood forearm also. I just need to let the dust settle a bit on the ones I have in process now. LOL Just getting a head start on the parts pile.

Huuuh! A 99 with a plastic stock--Just won't be right, just won't be right. I prefer wood on my rifles, on some rifle's for right applications the plastic is ok. In fact a AR15 with a wooden stock wouldn't look right. Ifin I'd find a 99 for sale with a plastic stock and was a model/year/caliber I was interested in, I'd possibly buy if metal and bore were good. Next step seek and buy a wooden stock and forearm, hopefully something from the 'day' and replace the plastic. Plastic stocks and frames---why I don't like or own a Glock, besides they weren't American in origin and intruded to much into American made handguns. About the ugliest gun I've seen come down the pike is one of those Mossberg lever action rifles with a plastic forearm, but the real kicker is the buttstock. Has AR type collapsible/adjustable one, looks like Mossberg went online and bought a truckload of AR stocks and stuck em on that rifle. Butt Ugly. And some say the wonderful Remington 8/81's are ugly rifles, but that Mossberg. No thank you. Your opinions may vary, but that's mine.

We all have opinions that's for sure. The next one will probably be a 308 based case of some kind, synthetic stock, cerakote finish, a real off the wall project, tried this years ago with a wood gun sent out to be cerakoted and came back chrome plated LOL I am lucky enough to have some of the newer 99's put away in the box for appreciation purposes, I too have the liking for the untainted too but I am a fan of 308 case based rounds, I just playing on the edge, the one no one has LOL
