Might actually have to do that.. got my oldest that I need to start teaching some web design to, maybe pay him some nominal amount to help set it up and maintain pics and all. If there's any interest in consolidating all the pictures and info into one place afterwards (maybe a bit like Les' site).

Anyway, I don't know about the display award.. I can see it helping folks get motivated to get stuff together, but seems a bit commercial to me. jmho..

Rick, not bad idea.. what about a catalog or flyer? Kinda like the auction sites do.. if folks know a month or two ahead of time which rifles they'll bring, they could email the info and I'd be willing to help put together a listing of pertinent info on rifles. Might help if the owner doesn't have to explain over and over again what something is.

Good Idea, for the more local folks, but some of us , dont have the room to bring much stuff, or anybody that flys in, for the Fest!

Called information for the phone# of Super 8 motels in the
area of the fest. No listing for one in Warrensburg.

The info operator I spoke with said there's a Super 8 in
Lake George, Glens Falls, and Sarasota Springs.

Looks like Lake George is the closest to Warrensburg.

What do you suggest?

...something to keep in mind as some of you plan your route s to Savage fest.Going thru Canada with guns is to be avoided.You'll have to pay a $50 fee for each gun and be subjected to a background check.If you have any sort of "record"...even a 40 year old DUI,you will be denied entry to Canada. I have seen this happen to people who were headed to Canada on hunting trips. Not cool when you made deposits with outfitters and have driven a ways to get to the border. Even if you are not carrying guns,the computer background check is applied randomly and if you had a "colorful" past,entry will be denied. Hunter Grimes

When wife & I married 17 yrs ago (Sept.30), I had ahold next to me a 99F, .358,(mid 50's) and NOT BEHIND ME !!! Told wifey I LOVE MY GUNS and they'll always be part of me. I'm marrying you cause the guns don't love me back...AND THAT'S THE TRUTH!!! I can only find 1 pic that my mom took that shows (not clearly) the 99.. The pastor never saw nor conducted a service like that but was OK with it. He's into civil war Colts 1851, 60s, 61s, etc.

Small World, My first good look at a '99 was a used gun for sale at the "CrossRoads" in Chestertown about 1 year ago. John put in my hand, said.."You want this gun!". I looked at it, thought it to be kinda ugly, but...Yea, it pointed like something I had never held, had a scope, sling, and supposedly had killed more than a few deer and I passed on it(he wanted about $250-$300). 3 weeks later at gun show in W.Sprfld, I notice a '99 for sale, not that great of shape...$400. See another, same type of condition, $475.... [bleep]!. I go back up to CrossRoads 2 weeks later, look for the gun...GONE! So here I am, year later, bought a Marlin Cowboy in 44mag from John at CrossRoads Sunday, Monday Morning, friend at coffee shop sais to me..Hey, You interested in a Savage '99? Uh, yea. I bought it, it's in pretty good shape, "B" I believe, nice wood, with a redfield peep sight, 300 Sav. Ok, so I am hooked, find this Website, see this site and yup, lot's of collecter/enthusiasts, and where do the meet? In Chestertown, right near where I get my first glimpse. I think I will attend.
