I'm mounting a Leupold 21/2 fixed on a late model 99A in .250 Savage. I'm using Weaver two piece alum. bases and Weaver top mount rings. Can anyone help me with torq. specs. I can't seem to get through to Weaver for this information

If you twist them off back up 12 full turns.

Check the inside of the rings before you tighten them down. I've had older Weaver rings with slight internal protrusions that seemed to have came from when they punched the holes in the steel portion of the ring. I have actually had some rings make slight divets in the sides of Weaver scopes when tightened down. A little gentle sanding on the inside at that point was enough to knock the protrusions down. That followed up with a some cold blue and all was good to go. I haven't noticed this issue on all Weaver rings but I have with enough to always make me look before jumping.

I'm looking for a different look on my 1980 99A. Would you provide the part numbers of the rings and bases? Scope diameter?

My Weaver V9 II is 14 inches long and I'm looking to shorten things up a bit.

I have the bar thing that slides back and forth in the rings, (with abrasive) it smooth's out and can correct if there is a misalignment. have been using burris signature Z rings for solving any problems with getting to zero.

Z rings are your huckleberry. Deep six the crappy Weaver stuff.

As for torque settings - just tighten them snug. You don't need a torque wrench. Howinhell did we get along for a million years tightening these things without a torque wrench?? I'll tell you how - by using common sense and a dab hand.
