did all the barrels come from the factory with the screw down apparatus that screws down against the schnoble fore end? I have one that has the standard barrel latch apparatus, have seen others this way.

All the catalogs and pricelists show them with the forearm screw that tightens against the schnable. I think the consensus is that ones with the forearm latches were modified aftermarket.

If you are going to bastardize a gun, cutting the schnabel off rather than slipping in a piece of leather and leaving the wood alone is a stupid idea.

a valve stem cap works as does the rubber cap on the end of a door stop
