Found this one prowling the net.

Purists may groan a bit as it was D&T but IMHO a HP w/o a scope isn't much and a 2.5X Alaskan in a Stith mt doesn't cut it.

I was hesitant as it's a TD but it's tighter than Pelosi at a GOP fundraiser.

Put the oddball triple CH Weaver on it just for grins.

Condition is everything and this lady has it along with a perfect bore.

Hey Chris:

Joe and I were shooting together today and we were talking about you.

We were saying we haven't heard from you in long, long time and we were hoping you were OK.

Good to hear from you.

You are spot on! Oops...

I don't know if the rear base is on backwards or it is the wrong base altogether. The bottom of the base looks to be parallel to the top of the base to me, not angled like a Weaver #14.

I'd also like to learn more about that scope. I've never seen one where the adjustments line up with the rings/base.

Yeah, that's just on there for show. The scope has no internal adjustment. It's done with the rings. The rear ring is the right style - front is not.

Hard to tell about the rear base now that I take a closer look?
That rifle appears to be a 99G in 22 hp a very rare fine and in great shape. Great find!

Not trying to rain on the parade, but am I the only one that thinks the wood has been refinished? Especially the varnish on the fore end.

Good catch guys as I discovered when I tried to bore sight it.

Mounts were totally wrong but happily I had the correct #s 14 and 19 in my overflowing box of scope mounts and bases. grin

Looks right now and bore sights fine.

Of course it's been refinished with 3/4" of spar varnish on it an a wire brush cold blue job. crazy wink confused
There's always one!

As for the scope. Weaver took a page from Bausch and Lomb realizing that it was far easier to make a waterproof scope with external adjustments. It's a cult item, especially with 3 vertical and 3 horizontal fine crosshairs. 2.5-8x, bright and clear.
