The gunstock and forearm on my 308 were refinished by a prior owner. The finish has a couple noticeable runs among other defects. I am contemplating a boiled linseed oil finish in satin. Are there any reasons not to refinish the gunstock and forearm? The gun gets some attention at the range and I feel it is deserving of a better finish. All opinions and wisdom you might share will be appreciated! Thanks.
Can't hurt the collector value a refinished rifle stock.
As Steve said, damage is done, already refinished, and not such a hot job. If you do a good job, you might up the value a little?
I had a replacement stock for my 284 we sanded it down finishing it with 1500 grit and then just used true oil, did about six coats and let the natural beauty of the wood come out

I like a true oil finish.
