Cool, my old EG is in the 423,xxx range. When I bought it a couple of years back it had been sawed off to 21.75 inches( behind the frt sight)? With a dovetail blank in the rear. D & T for weaver bases with weaver rings and an old weaver 6x. The old gal has seen some action but still shoots nice. Not much of a collector item but I only paid 325 for it. So it gets to hunt and let's me be worry free...mb

They are cool. I’ve had a number of them, not all scopes were in good shape. The post reticles I liked far more. Still have one or two 330’s, I believe.

This scope is in great shape and crystal clear. I am not a good Savage collector but I have some interesting ones and there is a certain nostalgic ingredient to my interest in them involving an uncle and a friend of dad's who swore by them. I have your book and theone by Murray so I know just enough to be dangerous. Probably should get David's book also. I always wanted to find a 99 that had the original factory installed mount on it but never happened (I think it was a weaver no 7 mount). I actually had the correct side mount and spent a fair amount of time looking for the proper rifle drilled in the correct manner. I finally gave up and gave the mount to a young man in the navy stationed in Norfolk Va who had the same obsession who was several hundred years younger than me. Hope he found one. The other obsession was the stith setup and lo and behold, it is in my sweaty palms. Now I have to try to hit something with that post sight. I have an older weaver post and cross hair scope that I never mounted on anything and probably should pass it on but hope springs eternal I guess and I will do something with it..........or not.

Nice rig dallased. A kissin cousin to my late 20ish 99G with Stith and Weaver 330 with post. 250/3000 Savage. Previous owner (a noted 99 collector in my area) not to awful long before I bought it for him had sent scope into an outfit that refurbishes scopes. Almost NIB condition, very clear. Tis a tackdriver with my 75 and 87 grain handloads. Take it out coyote huntin once in a while.

The Weaver 330 was used in WWII. The military collectors drove the prices up on them as many used during the war were an off the shelf commercial version and could be used to make a sniper rifle. Add to that a restoration charge and you have a high dollar scope!
