If you do any handloading for elk in the future, consider the 200 TTSX BT with TAC. My M99 gets 2700 FPS with 51 grains (1 gr under Barsness' max in the attached) and shoots right at MOA. Use a magnum primer - I used F215. Killed my elk with that load in 2020.

Good luck on your hunt.
Rex

Darn, the only 358 I have left is too valuable to hunt with. frown

When does a gun become too valuable? Just curious.

When it's rare and in pristine condition. My only 358 is a 99EG in pristine condition. Some people will disagree with me. We are each welcome to our opinion. smile

I have a 358 cut checkered DL I don't hunt with. It's nice, perfect, but that's not the reason. The fact that is is basically irreplaceable means it stays home. If I could find another one or if there were no other more common 358's available to use then maybe I'd use it.

Imagine playing baseball with your buddies using the Babe Ruth, All-Star Game HR ball from 1933.

You could do it, but there are better choices.

I used the same K to take a Spike buck, before it was sold to Jim. Cant find the picture, also took it on a bear hunt. No bears were seen.
