Are there any Savage collectors in Alaska. I have a 1895 in 303 Savage and a 1899 in 250-3000 Takedown. The 250 has a flip up peep sight. I would like to sell both of them.
You don't have enough posts to send or receive private messages. Would you be able to post a little more information on what you have?

One is a 1895 in 303 in rough shape but still functions. The other is a 1899 in pretty good shape in 250-3000. It is a take down with a flip up peep. I can.t post photos.

Good morning , I live in Sitka , we could talk , text or email but I don't know the rules of putting up personal information here .
A nagging question from me is , how much for the 1895 ?

Or put an add on Alaskaslist
99 250 TD came home today, he shoots at the same range. I shot it functions and seems accurate. Marbles Tang sight, and Marbles folding rear sight, Forearm is numbered to rifle, buttstock has a 29 S not numbered to rifle. Couple of repaired cracks in buttstock, rifle cleaned up well bore looks great.

What is odd is no Savage 99 on front top of receiver? 1745XX ser number DOM? Can,t find my Savage book. Well I now have 4 Savage 99 in the case stretching 250-3000 and lots of ammo.

Google shows 1915 DOM if so looks pretty good for 109 years!

The receiver stamp for SAVAGE MODEL 1899 didn't start until late 1920. You're good.
What does the Savage book show for the date of Manufacture and model? When did the 99 chamber the 250-3000? Thanks Kurt

I think it started in 1914 with the 1899 Deluxe which was solely introduced for the 250-3000 from Newton. I think.

What I do know is it’s a hell of a round.

does that250 have a serrated trigger.

Norm
Its as described on 3-29 Murrays book Model 1899, my buttstock is different suspect it was replaced but finish matches? Trigger is fine cross checkered which is not found on any other model. Serial number matches this model and best guess its a 1914 -15 vintage. Would love to find out that its the 250-3000 from the Alaska Wolf man book!!!! Buttstock is not a wide perch belly and no logo on butplate, ser# is different also on buttstock. Forearm has a faint H on it as described that should be on this model.

Think its Model 1899 with replaced buttstock, and Marble folding rear sight? Is my best guess. Seemed to shoot factory RP 100 grains ok, and fired cases looked great.
Agree.. if you pull the buttplate, you'll probably find the serial number for the rifle the buttstock was made for. Or a short assembly code if it was a factory replacement.
Pulled buttstock plate numbered 29 S which makes me think factory replacement would prefer the replacement to the fat perchbelly of the original. Going to stick to my Story that it was Alaskas Wolfmans rifle! He was here 1915 thru 1955 the timelines right!!!!
I'm glad it worked out for you. Nice rifle to take hunting.

What happened with the 95?
Yeah.. I'd happily buy that and pay for shipping. As an 1895, don't even have to worry about FFL's.
E mail Jon think he is going to put it on consignment and let the shop deal with shipping.

So who wound up with the 95? Would like to see a few more pictures
Good morning , The 1895 is sitting at my place . I will start a new post to ask a few questions and help the seller deflect future emails .
I see a few here with a fair amount of know how on this model and that will a good help to me .
