I got this M8 from CTW. I mounted it on an early serial #7277xx D&T'd EG

Very nice! There was a group of EG's that were factory drilled from 725,xxx into 727,xxx. Then they went back to undrilled.. then finally switched for good around 750,5xx.

Scope looks good on it.
Sweet setup Dave.

I try to do things like that. Make setups that are period correct. I know there are better scope options out there that can be mounted but sometimes I want to use the exact setup my grandfather and his buddies used in back in the day.

Caveat: I don’t take it too far though. I do have the best binoculars money can buy strapped to my chest.

I have one at 728,1xx.
725xxx to 734xxx
That looks right at home

Did you have to move the rings at all?
FIL's 300 EG D&T 72571x
even my binoculars are early 1980 B&L.
didn't have to move the rings. It was at the right distance. Will get out to the range and zero it in if the wind ever dies down. May have to hunt elk with it this season.
Very nice!

Also, thanks guys for posting D&T EG model ser number range. Very helpful to my search for the right EG.
There's oddball 99EG's that show up as factory d&t earlier than those as well, mjac.

Look for the SAVAGE MODEL 99 stamp to the side on the receiver ring, and you almost surely found one.
Off a post mill so once they started they were consistant

Yes sir. The ones I usually see (pictures of) the camera angle is such that the receiver ring is covered. Asking has not produced any confirmations, at least any that was really interested in.

Thanks.
If you can see the left side of the receiver ring, you can see that SAVAGE MODEL 99 stamp on a factory d&t EG.

I can see it to the side of the scope mount here, so it's factory drilled.

No SAVAGE MODEL 99 stamp beside the scope mount here, so this wasn't factory drilled.

I have an '57 F with SAVAGE 99 stamped on the left side ring. It came to me with a scope mounted so I presume it was factory d&t.

I don't have the ser number handy.

Shameless plug, I would trade the F towards the right EG.
1957 F would be in the 900,000 serial range and all were factory D&T'd.
