I'm looking for the best powder and primer to use with 100 gr. bullets in my 1946 .250-3000. It has 1:14 rifling and all the ballistic data I've been able to find is for 1:10. I would place a premium on accuracy over speed. Does anybody have a source for the right data?
Wait until everyone wakes up! Plenty of load data here!!

Mike...
I've noticed that there are very few posts on the 24 during the
night time. Wonder why...
Most of us are working at this hour?
Accuracy means loading 87 grain bullets.
+1

Some pre-1960 250's can work with 100gr bullets, but it's not that common and the 100gr bullets have to be very short. Much easier to get something like the 87gr Speer HotCor's and H4895 to shoot good groups. 34.5 grains of H4895 works very well for me and gives 2950fps or so.

Several years ago I had a '47 model EG that I used 100 grain Speer's with H-4895 that shot real well but, the 87 grain shot a little better. I began at the start load and worked up to find the best accuracy.

Thanks guys, I just got up and am heading out to work here on Maui(life's a bitch ). Do 87 gr. bullets have enough oomph for deer? well, off to work, will check in tonight.
Couple of good choices in smaller bullets.. I used an 87gr Speer HotCor on antelope in 2006, and considering it's performance there I'd have no worries using it on a whitetail.
I've had real decent luck with the Speer 100 grain bullets in my older .250s.

The only .257 bullets I use are 87 or 100 grain Speers.
Looks like Speers are the most popular.
I'll try both 87 and 100 grain, with H4895.
Calhoun, which primer are you using?
If that 4895 doesn't do the job, try some Reloder 15.
Federal primers if possible.
Do you have a source for 1:14 ballistics data?
Same data for 1 in 10 versus 1 in 14.. just that the 1 in 14 won't stabilize the heavier bullets listed.

Hodgdon lists load data on their web site.
Thanks again for all your help.
