I have an older Savage bolt gun from the 60's I would guess. It was my grand dads. It is a .222 and uses a clip. Has a band around the barrel at the front of the stock to attach to stock. Trigger gaurd is metal (not cast) and encompasses the clip assembly. Overall look of the gun is cheap! It appears to have a barrel nut like current savages. Just curious as to what it is. Thanks

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. In my opinion the 340's are neat well made lightweight rifles. They are affordable right now. Just picked up a nice 340 in 30/30 and have my eye on another in 22 hornet. Looks like the start of another collection.
